Fan Packs are usually made up of promotional items such as pocket schedules, stickers, pictures etc, although I've also received things such as bobbleheads, hats, t-shirts, video tapes, and even autographs.

You can request Fan Packs by:
1)writting to a team and requesting one.
2)contacting a team through email and requesting one. 

I first started requesting Fan Packs around 2003 and usually send 1 or 2 requests per team, at the beginning and end of every season. (When teams are clearing out items from the previous season)
