Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space

Mod Installation

Note: Mods do not work with the demo version of the game.

For reference, the directory (folder) tree of a mod should resemble that of the "default" directory of the main game (you can think of "default" as being a special game mod). At a minimum each mod directory should contain a "game.cfg" file, and most likely "graphics" and "gamedata" directories as well.

For most mods (in zipped form), do the following:

  1. Unzip the .zip file into your "Weird Worlds" game folder, using a program like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
  2. Make sure the mod files are in their own folder. (e.g. Weird Worlds\Battle Colosseum\).
  3. Start Weird Worlds, open the Mod Launcher, select the mod, and play.

Imperial Star Destroyer (224Kb) Pilot this iconic ship around the galaxy.

Mizendar v1.0 (5MB) This mod is really just an aggregation of all the stuff I love about space opera, with my own personal twist. Many of the graphics have been replaced or tweaked, some new sounds, and a lot of the data files have also been changed to make this mod. There are not as many new quests as I wanted to make in this version, but If I get a chance to, another version will add more.
By
Special Ops Mission (external link, ~50K) Take control of two devastating new prototype Terran rapid assault craft.
By
Battle Colosseum (94Kb) This mod adds all the different types of ships under the simulator so you can recreate any battle you want against any ship. It also adds more ships in the main menu background fighting it out with each other.

Strange Adventures in Infinite Space

Mod Installation

Upgrade! Mods were not supported in the initial release of Strange Adventures in Infinite Space, and there have been several versions since the support was first added. We recommend that you download and run the patch to the latest version of the game (v1.5 as of this writing) before attempting to use any of these mods. Note: Mods do not work with the demo version of the game.

Sometimes, mods have their own installers (.exe files, which you can run to install the mod), or other special requirements that usually are detailed in their respective readme files. For most mods (in zipped form), do the following,

  1. Unzip the .zip file into your .\Strange Adventures In Infinite Space\mods folder, using a program like WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
  2. Make sure the mod files are in their own folder. (e.g. not directly in .\mods, but in .\mods\UrlaquaiCrusade).
  3. Start SAIS, open the Mod Launcher, select the mod, and play.

Another Fine Mod I created this mod soon after the 1.2 version of the game came out. I wanted a bit more variety than was available at the time, so there are 2 new federation ships to fly with very different handling characteristics, as well as a new renegade race. New and more weapons and objects power up the galaxy a bit, so play in hard and reap the benefits!

Dogfight Dogfight is a little twist on my old Megamod addition to the game. It contains all the extras from Megamod plus a few new things to discover. Howeverthe real difference is that all your ship choices are now fighter sized. Not only that, but enemy corvetts are now fighter sized to. this makes the battles far more fast paced with alot more movement involved, for more dogfighting and less big slow moving ships.

Even Stranger Adventures in Infinite Space v1.22 More of the same, only lots more...and different

The Urluquai Crusade v1.2

(2.8MB 7-Zip archive)
The Urluquai are attacking - and you are on their side! As a mercenary you help them to obtain crucial information for their assault on the other races of Sector Prime. But beware: helping the Urluquai means siding with pure evil - and nobody likes you for that! Navigate deep into enemy territory, land on hostile planets to go on dangerous ground missions, combat powerful new ships and use awesome weaponry to accomplish your task. In the end you will be paid for your services depending on the information you gather and the enemies you neutralize.

Zip file at RapidShare (3.8MB)
(n.b. at this time the RapidShare version has a more complicated installation procedure, so I recommend one of the local files).
Universe A mix of old and new - the tossed salad of SAIS games.

Weapons Vault Weapons Vault is a mod that attempts to improve SAIS combat by simply adding dozens and dozens of new weapons. This version is a Beta only, and no unfortunately further versions will be released. This is because the author was rather frustrated by the fact that the most recent version was overwritten before being uploaded. ;)
