St. Patrick's Youth Group

Proclaiming Christ's Love To The World

Youth Spiritual Growth

Welcome to the Youth Christian Education program at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. Our objective is to help our youth better understand and know the Word of God, as well as the principles and values of what it means to be a Christian, and to share and proclaim Christ's love to the world.

During the acedemic year, the church school programs for 6th - 12 graders have been conducted with the dedicated service of parents and volunteers. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. and use a lectionary-based curriculum called "Living the Good News".  We discuss the lessons appointed for the day; how they apply in our daily lives, in our relationship with God, friends, and community.  In addition to Sunday School, we have taken field trips to the National Cathedral, museums, and the Fairfax Ice Arena for fellowship and fun.

   As in the past few years, the youth have offered drama presentations on three occasions.  “The Fourth Wise Man” was presented in January '06 during Epiphany.  “David and Goliath” was presented in August '06 as a VBS presentation sermon.  "Great Glad Tidings" was presented in December '06 as the Christmas Pageant.

We kicked-off our "Prayer Partners" program on February 4th with the commissioning of 22 prayer partners.  Each partner received a bookmark with the "prayer covenant", a brief bio of their partner, and a prayerbook for youth "God of My Heart".  The partners will meet occasionally for service projects and a banquet at the end of the year.

We will offer confirmation classes in October for those who wish to be confirmed on November 25.

Dear Lord:

We're not perfect;

We don't always put you first in our lives.

Although we have sinned against you,

you still provide us with many things to be thankful for.

Thank you for loving us and for being ever merciful

and for your hidden blessings.

Help us always to remember the less fortunate and lonely.

Let us do for them what you do for us

and continue to give us opportunities to serve you and your children.

In your name we pray, Amen.
