Press Release

High School Musical Time!!

Have you heard of the Disney Spectacular 'High School Musical'? If not then where have you been?

The film's soundtrack was the best-selling album of 2006. This was Disney Channel's most successful movie at its time with 7.7 million viewers in its premiere broadcast in the US. In the UK, it received 789,000 viewers for its premiere (and 1.2 million viewers overall during the first week), making the film the most watched program for the Disney Channel (UK) of 2006.

There is even more exciting news for the people of County Down. St. Patrick's Choral Society have been granted permission by Disney and Josef Weinburger to perform the stage version of the Musical. This is an exciting time for the company with the cast being put through their steps.

Vice Chairperson, Gareth McGreevy, commented on the energy from the cast. "They are such an energetic and lively group with real determination. They know the success of the movie and this cast wants to make the stage musical just as big a hit!"

High School Musical on Stage! is a stage adaptation of the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. It follows the same basic plot but some things have been changed to make it more 'stage friendly' such as the order of some songs being swapped or added compared to the film. The stage musical includes two new songs: "Counting On You" and "Cellular Fusion and for anyone who is a real fan, this is a must as there is a megamix added at the finale which combined all of the songs from the show in which the audience can join in along with. We promise you will be dancing in the aisles!!

The stage show, which is kindly sponsored by McGrady Collins Solicitor's Downpatrick, will run from Tuesday 23rd October to Saturday 27th October 2007 in the Great Hall, Downshire Complex, Downpatrick. Tickets are now on sale at £8 from Gordon's Chemist, Downpatrick; Smyths Musique, Newcastle or by calling Gareth on 07786837198. We advise that you book very soon as tickets are starting to sell very fast and there only a limited number avaliable.
