The Write Place

Editorial services

My name is Sharon Schafer, and I am a writer/editor.

I provide editorial  services for  any purpose,

whether it be literary, business, or educational.

I have worked as an editor for seven years for an online literary magazine.

"The Rose and Thorn  Ezine"

I also was responsible for editing the newsletter for this ezine.

I began writing when I was a teenager, and have written off and on ever since.

I used to tell people that Nancy Drew was my best friend growing up.

She was my inspiration back then. I wrote short stories in high school,

mostly for my own enjoyment. I still remember my main character.

Angela Dawson was my Nancy Drew.

I love mysteries, but I also like writing humor and real life.

I dabble in romance now and then , and I love ghost stories.

I have been published numerous times on the Internet,

Including

~ EWG Presents~

~St. Rose Press~

~The Rose and Thorn~

I also won a short story contest, and placed in many others.

In 2000, I had a story published in

"Chocolate For A Teen Soul"

I am currently working on a children's book,

a series of short stories about an elderly couple that live in a retirement home,

and a mystery/thriller.

Writing News

Nov: 2006

My proposals have been accepted for two anthologies.

One is a horror/mystery type and the other is about a dating service.

I am very proud to be a part of these projects.

Stay tuned for updates on my writing.

Update:  January 2007

I just completed my story for the anthology

Anonymous Dates Inc.

Here is an excert from this story:

Intro: Carrie came from a wealthy family.  She had a domineering mother

who made it her mission in life to marry off her daughter to a man of stature.

Carrie didn't care for the men her mother set up for her.

They were more interested in her family's money, then they were with her.

When her mother approached her about a dating service in Las Vegas, Carrie was reluctant

at first, but agreed to go.  Here she met Jonathon Banks.

Was he the real thing, or just another golddigger?

Exert from the story

"The New Carrie"

As they were driving to the Grand Hotel, Jonathon talked about his position at the real estate office, and how he enjoyed hiking. He told her he had a cabin in the mountains, where he often went for rest and relaxation. All the while Carrie was observing him closely.  He was interesting, but somehow it sounded too automatic, like he had said it many times before. Maybe he was a regular at Anonymous dates. Still he was interesting, and very handsome, but maybe a bit too smooth. She wasn’t quite sure. Maybe it was past experiences that made her wary.  She decided to try and be more open minded.  She was still staring when he turned and asked about her.

Is Jonathon the real thing?  Does Carrie find the man of her dreams?  Look for my story in the anthology

Anonymous Dates Inc.  due out later this year.
