St Opal Castle represents modern day operation and is set in countryside to serve 3 miles branch line which connected to the main line between Shrewsbury & Wolverhampton. It serves a regular local & express passenger services, mainly made up of DMU's to sharing three platforms station.
There are few freight workings arrive at St. Opal Castle to use the freight line, to allow locos to run around the loop to continues journey and also offers locos to use stabling depot and fuel point.
