Stoney Stanton Darts League

Incorporating the Hinckley Summer Darts League

DEXTER TO QUIT RUMOUR

We have been informed that Nigel 'Boy van Blunder' Dexter is set to quit the Stoney Stanton League and return to the 'other league'. This comes on the back of a bitterly disapointing weekend for Dexter, 50, where he lost his second successive match of the county season in another sorry display and now faces a tortuous wait to see if he has kept his place.

Dexter believes he has achieved as much as he can in the Stoney Stanton League, and is not confident in a return to the glory days which saw him lift the Pairs Knockout trophy with Rod 'Joe 90' Sanders. Sanders then, without mercy, dropped Dexter as his pairs partner and Dexter has not enjoyed the same success since.

To commemorate Dexter's achievements in the league, a new design of flight has been released to sit alongside the ever popular 'I beat Nigel Dexter' design, which is still available in limited numbers after massive interest.

IS THIS THE LEG END?

Mason contemplates his future

Steve "The Legend" Mason last night sensationally lost 2-1  to Nick "No Fear" Costello in an epic battle in the Middlefield's defeat of the Queens Head A in the Knockout Cup.

After the game Mason said "I am absolutely gutted, I put in one of the best performances of my career there, producing an 11.4 per dart average, but I was never in it." Costello commented "I had no idea who he was even though he had his name all over his shirt, I just got on with the job at hand and after I had raced into a 2-0 lead and had won over the crowd, decided to step off the gas in the last leg which Mr Leg End took on double one"

Middlefield captain, Bev "No Shit" Henton was unavailable for comment last night but it was rumoured that Mason will find it hard to cadge fags for the next few weeks.

Costello took the first leg in 39 darts and left Mason trailing back on 157 with a 30 darter for the second leg. Mason then 'stormed' back to take the third and final leg in 35 darts.

DEXTER BREAKS DUCK SHOCK

A packed Bardon Road

Nigel 'Boy van Blunder' Dexter, 50, ended his record losing streak last night with a win over the Middlefield's Mark 'Twiggy' Dewis and was rewarded with an open top bus parade through Barwell which ended in his home street Bardon Road which was full of 'Barrellers' fighting to get a glimpse of their hero.

An emotional Dexter, 50, paid tribute to his captain Charlie Morley - 'Charlie has backed me all season even though the rest of the team didn't want me playing. Obviously, being a big name county player, other players up their game against me as it's not every week you get the chance to play someone of my calibre, but it was my night against the Middlefield an one which will be with me forever.'

The Middlefield's Dewis was unavailable for comment last night but is understood to be devastated after the defeat, and is now having to face having the stigma of being the first player to lose to Dexter, 50, this season.

Middlefield team captain Bev 'No Shit' Henton was typically undiplomatic - I don't ask much of my players, just 110%, but to lose to him (Dexter) is something I will not tolerate'.

It was Dexter's first win in five starts this season, after defeats against Paul Lowe, Dave Davies, Steve Smith and Ade Lucas. His Citizens team must have begun to question their star signing with some saying the player did not have the desire to play for the team, only signing for them because of the cheap beer and a lack of offers from top flight teams.
