Discovered by sailors, the Stone of Fire is the mark for entering Stone Fires Weyr. It is a natural outcropping off the Fire River, so named for the red color of the water due to the red clay river bottom. This rocky formation is like a fire, towering above the river and sheltering a small port. Beyond the port is a road up to the Weyr itself, a sheltered canyon created by a river. Said river was diverted long before the Weyr was founded.  The Weyr was founded following the 8^th pass, and for many years has served as protector for the Stone Hold and Fire Hold, as well as the small Port Hold. The Weyr is large, big enough to hold its 573 dragons, with room to spare. The north end of the Weyr holds the Living Caverns, as well as the Hatching Cavern. All of the weyrs and the Living Caverns are serviced by two underground springs, one of water so hot that the natural pool is literally hot enough to boil meat, the other of cold water. The Sands are heated by unknown means; their heat is fully the equal of the Sands of Northern Weyrs, yet come naturally.
