I keep getting questions about how the construction project is coming, and it's a bit embarassing, as well as frustrating. October was a busy, busy month. We had all sorts of things going on. I was on a new job. We had an MCC Sale in Rocky Ford, Colorado that we volunteered for a day; we spent a weekend on that trip and took the time to visit relatives. It was enjoyable, but it was a weekend we didn't spend on the house.
There were also all the things we have to do to prepare for winter on a homestead, so there was firewood to get and arrange close to the house. We have a woodbox in the house that we needed to fill. We have things to store away in sheds for the winter.
There were just all sorts of things to keep us busy for the month of October. So we really didn't get much done on the construction of the earth home.
So how do I keep writing progress reports that report little or no progress? At the same time, I need to make updates to this site, because people ask why I haven't made updates.
I was talking to Rachel lastnight about the house and feeling a bit down about it. I told her that we just haven't done much with the house in the last month. Really, ever since I ended my sabbatical (sp?) and took that job in June, I haven't done much with the house at all. At least that's how it feels.
Absolutely nothing got done on the house this weekend. The weather was bad; the remnants of Hurricane Ike made it's way through our area. We got 4 and a half inches of rain and a little bit of wind, but nothing like what they received east of us. We got the easy part.
