The BigWhiteBox is since 1st March 2006 online, is based in West London and operates under UK law. By 01.04.2006 were about 2,700 images online- they are currently in the BETA testing phase, but
attract around 500 new images a week. Images are normally reviewed within 24 hours and then immidiately online. Photographers can choose to earn £2 per sale or donate their
royalty to charity. The sales structure is very easy: 5£ per photo (at least 2.70£ for charity), no subscriptions are available. There is no specialisation in subjects or styles and the site statement is "Big White Box is about raising money for charity and promoting
talent whilst offering a fair deal to microstock photographers." At the moment it is only available in English and there are no other services or a forum for
buyers/submitters. The minimum requirements for
submissions are "If we think someone would pay five pounds
for it, we will approve it." The basic rules are no nudity and model releases
are required for images which show identifiable people. The person who uploads
the images must be the sole owner of copyright to them. There is no entry test or test submission necessary. The recommended file size is between 2 and 4 megatbytes. There are nearly 400 photographers registered, there is no registration for (potential) buyers. There is no time limit a image may stay online. BigWhiteBox is a not-for-profit site. It offers microstock photographers
the opportunity to sell their work in an attractive environment which allows
their work to look its best and any profits the site makes goes to charity.
"With your talent we really can change lives."

| registration and submission procedure |
|
 |
Registration requieres a valid email, telephone (or mobil) number and postal adress, your agreement to a standard contract (always read it!). You receive then an activation code per email that enables you to access the site functions and to start uploading. BigWhiteBox is the only website I know of that DOESN'T support exif data retrievement (means automatically uploading embedded information like keywords...) nor has any form of multiple file upload. The upload process is tediously stretched over 4 pages and submitting to this site can be only justified by its charitable intentions...

| Final Verdict |

It is not difficult to get pictures approved at this site, but there're, up to now, lacking buyer potential. My only reason to submit here is that I like the charitable concept of the side. Things to improve: The tedious single upload process!!!
