164 year old Kingston landmark gets a new ‘hat’
In June 2007 work commenced on the re-roofing of St Mark’s Church Barriefield, a Kingston landmark since it was constructed in 1843.
The only pre-confederation building in Kingston east of the Cataraqui River, St Mark’s Church is a familiar sight to local residents and visitors alike. Sited on a prominent hilltop, the church building is floodlit at night.
The cost of the renovation for the roof comes from a combination of funding by the congregation of St Mark’s church and the Pittsburgh Community Benefit Fund.
This much needed rennovation was completed in October 2007.
