Personal History and Origin:
Quinn Burgess was born in Aramas City on Idril Colony. His childhood was a
fair typical one. Quinn bothered his older brother as much as he could, as
little brothers tend to do. He played baseball at Archer Park with the
other children that lived in his neighborhood. As far back as Quinn can
remember, he's been curious about how things work. This translated into
his school work and led to his selection to attend the Charles Tucker III
Science Magnet School. Burgess did quite well in school and, upon
graduation, he got himself a job at a local mechanic's shop. After two
years, Quinn decided that he needed something else in his life. So he left
Idril to enlist in Starfleet.
In his training he worked in both Operations and Engineering. His ability
to work well under pressure made him well suited to the Operations
position. However, if asked, he really does enjoy working with his hands
in the Engineering Related fields. Quinn says that there's more of a
challenge there. However, his grades did not allow him the luxury of
getting the choice assignments on the newest ships in the fleet. Thanks to
the recommendations of his instructors, both on the Georgetown and at the
Academy, he was able to choose a posting that would allow him to practice
both of the disciplines he learned. His first posting as an Crewman was to
USS Georgetown as an Engineer. Upon his promotion to Petty Officer 3rd
Class, he was transferred to Starbase 224 as an Operations Officer.
However, there things worked a little bit different than onboard ships. On
stations, Operations Officers serve as Engineers as well. They are changed
with maintaining the station itself and helping with the ships that come
in for retrofit or repairs. This suited Quinn just fine. He would spend
the next two years there until his skills got him noticed enough to be
transferred to a new posting on the USS Nurminen. It was one incident in
particular that created the opportunity for the new posting. By this time,
Quinn was in charge of his own team (now ranked PO1) and doing fairly
well. One day, his team was working out near the docking ports when all of
the sudden the station began to shake. Keeping his feet and his head,
Quinn ran towards the source the problem. Upon arrival at the docking
port, he found that the frieghter that was docked there had engaged it's
manuevering thrusters while still docked. His first instinct was to call
Ops and have them simply cut the ship loose before it ripped a giant hole
in the side of the station. However, they told him that they couldn't
release the clamps because the twisting had damaged them enough that they
would not retract. The Airlock refused to close as well. It was then that
made the decision and ran through the open airlock and onto the ship to
find that the crew had been incapacitated. Upon inspection of the
displays, he found that there had been an explositon in Engineering that
had caused the thrusters to fire. Thinking quickly, he ran through the
frieghter at full tilt and somehow managed to shut the thrusters off
before the station's hull breached.
Just before the transfer, Burgess was given a Citation for Bravery. |

Medical/Psychological Report
If it weren't for Quinn's stubborn streak, he would probably have promoted
faster. While never having gotten in any official trouble, Quinn has
caught the ire of his superiors for his dogged determination in things.
He's gotten into many verbal sparring matches during times he's been
convinced he was right. He usually was, but it's still hardly a good idea
to show up your superiors. Though over time this particular trait has
seemed to have mellowed a little.
However, it's pair of other powerful traits that he has that make him the
excellent officer that he is. Despite not being the best student, Quinn
has been able to get his way out of most any situation by simply keeping
his head. Where officers and crew in similar situations cracked, he was
able to stay focused and reason his way out of problems. His photographic
memory when it comes to technical issues tends to come in handy as well.
