COMMAND & CONQUER

               Resident Evil 4

This is a new classic.  Resident Evil 4 takes place six years after the Racoon City disaster and stars an older more experienced Leon as the main character and now a government agent arriving in a rural part of Europe in search of the Presidents missing daughter.  The game starts off in a village and One of the main things to note is that it’s no longer zombies but something else, I wont say encase you haven’t played the game yet but it’s cool.  These Spanish speaking villagers seem human, typically come at you in numbers, they can talk to each other as well as attack and dodge etc.  They look human enough but there’s something wrong with these villagers.  The AI in the game is great, this is much different from the zombie days but the best thing is how well it all works.  The whole engine and game has been redesigned giving the Resident Evil series a new look.  The camera is now an “over the shoulder” view, meaning that you always see the action from over Leon’s shoulder along with the new aiming system where you aim the gun and use the laser sight to help you target your enemies.  You can now shoot at any place on the body and if you want to get a head shot it’s now up to you to make that happen, it all depends on your aim.  Another thing that’s really cool is the Action button.  Leon can perform so many different manoeuvres through this one button.  You can jump over obstacles, perform kicks and so much more that it seems endless.  There’s also a cool dodge system in the game which you’ll encounter many times throughout, for example, your enemies might start a huge boulder rolling towards you and it’s up to you to repeatedly tap the right button to sprint then press the dodge buttons to jump out of the way.. either A and B or L and R..the corresponding buttons appear on the screen and you need to press them quick in order to be successful.  The graphics, sound, music etc are simply amazing and all work great together, the cut scenes are also great with good voice acting.  Resident Evil 4 is a must for all Resident Evil fans and will even entertain newcomers.  It gets a 9.5 score from me.

                              Command & Conquer

Command & Conquer is the first real time strategy game i played, i thought it was a great game. You choose either GDI ( Global Defence Initiative ) who are the good guys or The Brother Hood Of Nod, the bad guys. Each side has different strengths and weaknesses.   Westwood also released Command & Conquer Gold ( Box cover showen above )  which is the Windows 95 version of the game,  I had been looking for it for a while and finally found it.  Its great,  the same game as the DOS version except its zoomed out like Red Alert and has cool pictures in the sidebar.  A great game, i rate it 9/10

           Command & Conquer Red Alert

RT

Command & Conquer Red Alert is one of my favourite games of all time. Set in an altered World War 2 were Hitler never rose to power but Stalin and his Soviet Union is the problem. You have the choice of Allies or Soviet this time.  Now I know you must be wondering were GDI and NOD are, well the game is set in the past so GDI hadn't been formed yet and NOD were still hiding in the shadows.   Again each side has its strengths and weaknesses, new weapons include the Chronosphere and Iron Curtain.  A great game,  I personally prefer GDI and NOD but still a great game and one of my favourites. This game gets a  9/10 from me.

       Command & Conquer Tiberian SunSUN

Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun is my favourite Command & Conquer. GDI and NOD are back for a future war this time. The game now uses a 3d engine and looks great. The game has a futuristic look to it and it also has weather conditions like ion storms and forest fires, also on snow levels ice can break if heavy units try to cross it like tanks. The videos have actors from movies in it this time including James Earl Jones and Michael Biehn. Im giving it 10/10 also since it is my favourite Command & Conquer.

Command & Conquer Red Alert 2

Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 has the return of the Allies and Soviets. Using the 3d engine again, the game looks great. The new leader of the Soviets is secretly plotting to seek revenge on the Allies for the Soviets destruction in the first war. Who will win this time? both sides are back with new weapons, including the weather control device and the nuke. I really enjoyed playing this game, although it just felt kinda different from the rest,  maybe because none of the origional characters were in it or at least one like Kane.  8/10 for this one.

       StarCraft

Starcraft is a great game from Blizzard entertainment.  A RTS ( Real Time Strategy )  like Command & Conquer but this one has three sides to choose from.  Terrain,  who are the humans and good guys and the two alien teams....Protos who are sort of neutral and Zerg who are the evil bad guys.  You are able to play any side from the start but it is recommended that you play the campaigns in order to understand the storyline.  Each side has their strengths and weaknesses and their own ways of building structures and attacking.  Lots of units, levels and the fact that you get three teams makes this a great game that you wont get bored of easily.  I give it   8/10

dune003.jpg (120253 bytes)                       Dune 2000

Dune 2000 is another strategy game from Westwood studios.  Its the remake of the classic Dune 2 from Westwood Studios.  It gives you the opportunity to select one of three teams to play as like Starcraft from Blizzard entertainment.  You can select the noble Atraides who are the good guys,  the insidious Ordos or the evil Harkonnen.  Each side has its own methods and weapons.  Like Starcraft its a great game with lots to do since you have three teams to play as.  8/10

COMMAND & CONQUER GENERALS
Command & Conquer Generals is the latest in the Command & Conquer series.  This one created by EA.  You have the choice of three sides this time, America, China or the GLA (Global Liberation Army).  As always, each side has it's advantages and disadvantages.  Each side has its own units and structures again having their own advantages and disavantages.  It's now all in complete 3D and most things have been changed such as Westwood's trademark side bar now being at the bottom of the screen like in most other strategy games.  There are a lot of other changes too which take time getting used to, this can be annoying.  New players would maybe pick it up slightly easier  but for fans that've played all the others, you might find it difficult at first being used to the others then going through the changes of Generals.  I bought the game a few months ago and im still not completely used to the changes and new interface.  It is a great game though in my opinion.  Lots of action and excitement plus having three sides this time gives more action, gameplay and a bigger story.  A must for all new players and lovers of this type of game, fans of the series like me might find it difficult getting used to or not like the game.  8/10.
COMMAND & CONQUER RENEGADE
This was the Command & Conquer title before Generals.  The game is slightly different this time as we are put right into the battle in a first person shooter rather than a strategy.  You play the role of Havoc, a taunting Commando during the very first war.  You have a good selection of weapons to choose from, action, levels, challenges and cool videos and storyline.  I loved this game when I first played it, so different being in the battlefield, being able to actually go inside the structures and see inside them, driving the tanks etc.  And probably my most favourite thing about this game is that it was during the first war.  It brought back memories of the first time playing the strategy and bringing a classic back with this great idea.  It is a great game and I love playing it, but I prefer the game being a strategy.  Definately worth investing in in my opinion.  A must for all Command & Conquer and FPS fans.  9/10.
 UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2003
The Latest in the UT series and at its best in my opinion..  The graphics and gameplay are amazing.  Lots of weapons to get your hands on and exciting ladders to play through.  You set up your own profile first which keeps hold of all your information, scores, player, name, completed ladders and levels, achievements etc.  There are disadvantages though, like how the sniper rifle's been taken out and replaced by an electric gun which I dont like at all.  The sniper rifle was my favourite weapon before so it was annoying to find out about this change.  But like everything it just comes down to opinion, lots of people will like the game, lots wont.  In my opinion it's Fast exciting FPS action.  This is a great game in my opinion which I would recommend to all fans and FPS fans.  9/10.
