Give
thanks....
Harvest
Thanks
giving
Though
we
may
believe
that
we
are
'feeling
the
pinch'
at
the
moment,
there
is
no
doubt
that
we
are
materially
so
much
better
off
than
many
people.
So
harvest
is
an
appropriate
time
for
thanksgiving
for
what
we
have
and
also
an
opportunity
to
give
generously
to
support
others.
We
have
already
shown
this
generosity
in
our
gifts
for
Zimbabwe
and
now
closer
to
home
we
have
chance
to
support
the
work
of
Carecent
which
provides
breakfasts
and
care
for
those
in
our
city
who
struggle
to
make
ends
meet.
This
year
too
we
can
give
thanks
for
the
response
in
the
parish
to
the
Trio
campaign
which
attempts
to
make
sure
that
our
church
has
the
financial
viability
so
that
we
can
be
more
outward
looking
and
so
more
generous
to
those
around
us.

A
Happy
New
Year
to
Everyone!
Twelfth
Night,
January
6th
signals
for
most
of
us
that
Christmas
is
well
and
truly
over
and
that
it
is
time
to
dismantle
the
tree
and
to
return
all
our
Christmas
decorations
back
to
their
storage
places
until
next
year.
Yet
in
church
we
are
only
just
now
placing
the
Wise
Men
in
the
crib
because
on
that
day
the
season
of
Epiphany
begins.
The
stories
of
Jesus'
birth
and
their
world
wide
significance
are
still
to
be
celebrated,
even
if
we
seem
to
have
moved
on.
The
response
of
the
Wise
Men
was
to
bring
the
best
they
had
to
Jesus,
though
probably
barely
recognising
the
significance
of
their
gifts;
only
that
they
were
part
of a
deeper
mystery.
This
is
our
calling
today.
We
do
not
understand
all
the
deep
mysteries
of
our
faith
but
we
are
still
asked
to
respond
with
adoration
and
with
an
offering
of
our
best.
