For many
centuries now the Church has been there at key times in
people 's lives :
to celebrate the birth of children and to ask
God 's blessing on their lives as they begin their
Christian walk; (often called Baptism)
as a place where a man and woman make their marriage
vows to
each other in the presence of God, family and friends;
(often called Wedding)
as somewhere to seek God 's comfort and hope
when a loved one has died. (often in the context of a
funeral)
St Hilda's Church provides these services to all who
live within the parish
and, in certain circumstances, to those beyond the
Parish boundaries.
Please see below to find out more about any of these
services

Baptism
We join the Church through
Holy Baptism. We are always pleased to hear from parents
who would like to have their children baptised.
Adults can be baptised too,
usually this is linked to the service of Confirmation.

Wedding
We are always pleased to hear from
couples who would like to get married.
We try to help every couple who approaches us even if
you think there are complications about where you live,
or you are divorced.
You are encouraged to speak to us to see if there is
some way we can help you.

Funeral
In the sad event of a loved one dying, one of the
members of the Staff Team would be willing to take the
Funeral Service, either at Church, or at the Cemetery or
Crematorium.
In the first instance, speak to the Funeral Director who
is responsible for arranging the Funeral.
They will contact one of the Staff to organise the
Service time and other details.
There is a usually a visit by the staff conducting the
service and the opportunity to have any further support
following the funeral.
