Stewart Genealogy Family Connections

 Martine, gggrandaughter of Alexander and Margaret Stewart, granddaughter of Margaret and Svein Eric, was baptized Septmber 2008, at Oslo Norway.  See pictures at the Photo Gallery.

Martine's father Christian is one of many great grandchildren of Alexander and Margaret Stewart around the world. Our shared ancestors, Alexander and Margaret Stewart,  were married at Glasgow Scotland in 1896.

This website is for sharing information about the ancestors and descendants of Alexander (born 1866) and Margaret Goldie Anderson Stewart (born 1872).  Alexander and Margaret's descendants are found today in Scotland, England, Ireland, Australia, Canada, the USA, Norway, Switzerland , and elsewhere. Through the site we have found new family connections.  We hope as you look through these pages you find the connection ( or the possibility of one!) you are looking for.  Welcome! 

The Marriage of Alexander Stewart and Maggie Anderson. Alexander Stewart, son of Allan Stewart and Barbara McNicol,  was born in 1866. His wife, Margaret Goldie Anderson , daughter of  John Anderson and Janet Cameron, was born 1872.

Margaret and Alexander were married in 1896 at Glasgow Scotland.  Shortly after their 1896 marriage,Alex and Margaret Stewart moved to Paisley, a town about eight miles from Glasgow.  Son Allan was born in Gauze Street, Paisley in 1897.  We have documentation that our Stewarts lived close by in the neighbouring parishes of Johnston, Neilston, Kilbarchan, and Paisley areas as far back as the late 1700's. 

Ancestor Robert Stewart , born about 1775, was a weaver, in the area. His son Robert , born about 1800, was a schoolteacher at Kilbarchan, a weaving village very near Paisley. 

For many decades, until the 1980's, three generations of our Stewarts, including Alexander and Margaret and their descendants, lived at 100 Glasgow Road Paisley Scotland, including three of the women pictured here . The women pictured are first cousins.  All are grand daughters of Alexander and Margaret Stewart.

Alexander and Margaret had ten children between 1897 and 1918. The Chart of the Children page lists the children and their birth dates.  We have listed their spouses where known. We hope to connect with descendants of the children in the branches of the family that have become farther flung due to immigration and the flow of life. ALEXANDER MCNICHOL STEWART , PAISLEY (Hunterhill area).  If your father, grandfather or great grandfather is Alexander McNicol Stewart (born 1907 at Paisley) then get in touch.We think he lived in Hunterhill with his wife Mary(?).

KEOGH of Bronx ( ot Brooklyn) New York .  Looking for descendants of Ann Stewart who married Mr. Keogh at New York about 1940's.
