Moose in the snow

Last update:11/9/09

We are a small, family owned/operated hatchery and private breeder.   Because we are small, we are dedicated to breeding the healthiest, and happiest, birds around.   We started with chickens, but decided to expand to gamebirds... we are still increasing our flocks, so please bear with us!

Breeds we raise:

(please see current availability page)

Light Brahmas

Light Brahmas - Large Fowl (LF), feather-footed dual purpose breed.  Lays medium to large tinted to brown eggs.  Great mothers.

Silver Grey Dorkings

Silver Grey Dorkings - Very rare English Breed, this bird is on the ALBC "threatened" list, with fewer than 1,000 breeding birds in the United States, with seven or fewer primary breeding flocks, and globally endangered.

Blue/black/splash Orpingtons

Blue/Black/Splash Orpingtons

An unusual English breed, blue/black/splash Orpingtons are becoming very popular in the U.S.  A large fowl, with beautiful blue lacing in the feathers.  Extremely soft, gentle giants, these birds are a perfect dual purpose bird.  They lay large brown eggs.

Blue hen & Splash Pullet

Delawares

Galena and Giovanni

Delawares are slowly decreasing in population, and is on the ALBC "Critical" list.  This breed is considered a heavy dual purpose bird with well developed egg and meat characteristics.  They lay a nice medium-brown egg.

Northern Bobwhite Quail

Northern Bobwhite Quail

The bobwhite's rapid, erratic flight, together with its small size, make it a challenge for hunters and bird-dog trainers.  It is regarded as one of the most delicious table game birds of all.

Coturnix (Japanese) Quail - Texas A&Ms

These birds were specifically bred by the Texas A & M University for their size and their all white meat traits. These birds do well inside in a normal bird cage or outside depending on your preference.   The females are generally larger than the males, and lay a good sized egg.  Because of their heaviness, these birds do not fly well enough to be used for bird-dog training with the exception of young dogs learning to flush.  Mature at 6-8 weeks, these birds are a fantastic renewable source of delicious meat.

FLYING MALLARDS

Adult mallard Drake

Chukar Partridge

Chukar Partridge

Excellent game bird for meat, eggs, or dog-training.  Good fliers at approximately 10-12 weeks, cold-hardy and very easy to care for.

Hopefuls for 2010:

Red Dorking

"Lucas" has 3 new girls growing for Spring breeding!!

Also in the works for next year are bourbon red turkeys, and Red Sexlinks. More to come on those!
