DIY tonearm
I got inspired to do a tonearm after reading about the Altmann diy tonearm.
(Check out the site here)

So, here are early pictures of my take on a wood tonearm. Wiring is being finished up now. The whole thing will get a coat, or two, of finish once I'm happy with the setup.

The arm itself is a piece of bloodwood shaped into a constant changing curve. The pivot is a 3mm anodized aluminum knitting needle. I need to try other materials.
The clamp is a piece of purple heart with a set screw to clamp the knitting needle pivot.
The current counterweight is a piece of bloodwood and a piece of purple heart. The screw sticking out the back is for fine adjustment.
The base is a piece of hard maple butcher block. There are three bolts threaded into the base (1 front, 2 rear) for height adjustment/leveling.

Here's the clamp. Missing are the 3 allen head bolts to mount the clamp to the base.

A look from the front:

The mounting nuts sit in a slot about 3mm back from the front.

Finally, looking down the arm from just in front of the counter weight. Just because it looks cool:
