Stephen Glover - Actor

Biography

Stephen trained at the Arts Educational School of Acting and is a graduate of Jesus College, Cambridge University.

A confident and focused actor equally at home with contemporary or classical text, Stephen starred in one man comedy Anorak of Fire as Gus Gascoigne, Yorkshire's most devoted trainspotter.  The production played at the West End's Arts Theatre and toured to theatres nationally.  Classical theatre includes a national tour of Twelfth Night playing Malvolio and Aphra Behn's Restoration drama The Rover at the Courtyard Theatre, taking the leading comic role of Ned Blunt.  Stephen is also an experienced baritone singer, with musical credits including A Karaoke Wedding at the acclaimed Union Theatre, Me and My Girl at the London Palladium and the Dame in Puss in Boots at The Theatre Chipping Norton.

Other theatre and musical credits include Algernon in Ocras Theatre's East Anglia tour of The Importance of Being Earnest, Mitch in Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens at Brentwood Theatre and The Fortune Theatre, As You Like It, also at the Courtyard, new play Horst Buchholz, also at the Union, and Mephistopheles in Doctor Faustus at the Barons Court Theatre.

Theatre whilst training and at Cambridge University included leading roles in new writing, Ayckbourn, Ibsen, Chekhov, Gilbert & Sullivan, Pinter and Sondheim.

Stephen has also appeared in a number of independent films, including playing the lead role of Simon in Guiding Light Productions' short The Bridge which was shown at the Raindance Film Festival in the West End.

He is continuing his acting training as an active member of The Actors Centre, with workshops including those led by Edward Hall (musical theatre), Rachel Kavanagh (Shakespeare), Chris Honer (Restoration), Jennie Buckman (Shakespeare), Harriet Thorpe (TV auditions), Sarah Hughes, Crispin Bonham-Carter (Text), Gordon Lamont (radio), Irene Bradshaw (audition technique) Abigail Morris and Gabrielle Lloyd.

A charismatic actor with a quirky, interesting look and excellent comic skills, Stephen is looking forward to continuing his career on stage and screen, across the genres.
