Well folks the country music festival is upon us and I took myself along to the festival to meet the stars of the Irish and American Scene. I meet up with some other djs and we had a great time.
The Mud and the Rain didnt put me off or anyone else for that matter.
First of all when i arrived I had the chance to see Shaun Loughrey live on stage and meet the man himself and what a gentleman he is unfortunately shaun had to rush off as he was playing elsewhwere on Sunday night, then I popped over to see Aidy Quinn on stage and aidy was fantastic and playing some songs from the brand new Album as well, and of course the Queen was there herself YES indeed Philomena, I had a chat to Phily and Aidy and AIdy telling me things are going good at the moment, ive got an interview lined up with Aidy very soon on I.C.R then Phily took the stage and sung out of this world and the final song the way old friends do was brilliant she had the crowd swinging with there hands in the air from side to side, then I popped over to see Shawn Cuddy and he had the crowd boucing and he was boucing as well, what a lovely fella and we caught up from Old Times in Ballymoney he did remember me from them days
Then came the moment I was looking forward to Mike Denver and his band, the white suit Mike was wearing was great its surprising it didnt get dirty but Mike had the crowd going and the band were out of this world, Mike had the crowd going with the songs he picked and the rain as well didnt stop the crowd either singing Every Day is a Beautiful Day, after the show I got to have a chat to Mike and get my photo taken and Mike is a down to earth guy, and Mike was telling me he cant wait to head up to Clonmany Festival this week as well.
Then Mr Jimmy Buckley arrived on stage and he got the crowd dancing in the rain and when Charlie Arkins took to the fiddle the band just fitted in straight away, after his appearance I caught up with Jimmy backstage with another Dj and he was telling us that hes recording his New Dvd and Cd in Sept 08 and hes looking forward to it and he thanked us for playing the music on the station.
In between stages I popped along to the UTV Main Stage to See Stonewall Jackson, Vernon Oxford and i got an interview with the Piano Man that was supporting Stonewall and Vernon - Mr James Cloudy Henry
I also saw Louise Morrisey, Brian Coll, Curtis, Roly Daniels, Tony Kerr and Matt Leavy and of course the Legendary George Jones and his new sidekick Britany Allen who boy can she sing.
About 11pm the event ended and i headed back on the road for the 2hr journey to derry but it was worth the wait and I cant wait until the next event, i will be attending the Clonmany Festival sometime during the week and my report will be on ICR FM next Tuesday where I have got Jimmy Buckley on for an interview.

Thanks to Aidy Quinn for the new cd - In My Mothers Footsteps and a few others they will all be played on ICR FM over the next couple of weeks.
