To get a Sonic Chao you must get an egg (preferably a blue egg because a normal chao will have stripes of darker blue in its quills).  After you hatch it give it green chaos drives until it's at level 8 in running.  Then feed it fruits until it goes into a blue cocoon and evolves into a running/neutral chao (should be green if it came from a normal chao egg).  After that give it nothing but green chaos drives until its at level 30 in running.  Next, leave the gamecube on for about 6 hours.  An easy way to do this is, if you're a student, to leave it on during school and check it when you get back.  Finally, if done correctly, you will have a Sonic Chao.  To add shoes get about five skull dogs and five hedgehogs.  Use the item reuse cheat in the cheats section of this website.  Alternate between giving your chao hedgehogs and skull dogs until the only hedgehog trait showing is the feet and the chao will look like it has shoes.  NOTE: this works for any kind of egg.

To get a Metal Sonic Chao you must buy a shiny sky blue egg from the Black Market.  Raise its running stats to level 15 and then feed it fruits with both sides until it evolves into a neutral/running.  Next, leave the GC for 6 hours.  After that's done you should have a Metal Sonic Chao.  To add shoes get about five skull dogs and five hedgehogs.  Use the item reuse cheat in the cheats section of this website.  Alternate between giving your chao hedgehogs and skull dogs until the only hedgehog trait showing is the feet and the chao will look like it has shoes.
