The Steelmen 5K team wants to thank the more than 500 of you for coming out in the wind and rain to make this 3rd annual event a success. We will have an update on the money collected for Joliet Area Community Hospice within the next two weeks, and we will update the website with photos from race day as well. We also wanted to thank DJ and avid runner Tim Scanlin from Answerback Entertainment for keeping the music going in all weather situations.
Want to do something worthwhile in your community? Come and join Joliet West High School at the Chicagoland Speedway for an event that helps out local charities.
Now in its third year, the Steelmen 5K is a race that is put together by the Joliet West students and staff. Our goal each year is to raise money for a local community charity. In 2007 we donated $10,000 to the Guardian Angel Home, and in 2008 we matched that donation for the Will County Children's Advocacy Center. We want to make 2009 even bigger as we look to help out the Joliet Hospice! With over 300 participants in year 1, and over 600 in year 2, we hope to out do ourselves in year 3!
