CIVIL WAR

This issue is a touchy subject to some.  My ancestors fought on both sides and I'm proud of all my Civil War heritage.  The North and South were both wrong.  It was wrong for the South to enslave black men, women, and children.  It was wrong for the North to enslave southern men, women, and children.  All who fought thought they were doing what was right for their respective states and countries.  Here is what I know, so far, concerning family Civil War history:

Stillman Young - 1st WV Light Artillery (Union)

John Josiah Eakin - 28th Virginia Infrantry (CSA)

INTERESTING FAMILY FACTS

JOHN JOSIAH EAKIN:  As mentioned in the Civil War paragraph above, John served with the 28th Virginia Infantry (CSA).  If you're into the Civil War, check out this link:  roanoke.com/roatimes/flag/july.html.  John is mentioned several times in this article.

STILLMAN YOUNG:  Stillman served with the 1st WV Light Artillery (Union) during the Civil War.  Here are some other positions he held:   Served in the West Virginia House of Delegates, constable, justice of the peace, inspector of elections, ordained local deacon in the M.E. Church, served on the Frenchton Circuit, Buckhannon Circuit, merchant and postmaster in Gaines, WV.

LOYAL YOUNG:  Loyal, son of Robert Young and Lydia Gould is considered a famous american.  Check it out for yourself at :  famousamericans.net/loyalyoung.

If you would like to include other members of our family, send the information to me via email or leave it in the site guestbook.
