The wide open spaces made filling the gallery a formidable achievement. The "Up in the Air" display allowed the viewers a fanciful collage of airships weaving in and out of the clouds. Placards with photos placed out front gave the gallery's patrons an easy way of identifying the models.
In honor of the show in Kennesaw and the staff at The Southern Museum, I added miniature figures of the people that helped set up the gallery in with the crew of the Amiral Duperre.
The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, Georgia is a member of the Smithsonian Affiliations Program. The museum offers a wide range of exhibits, including a glimpse into the daily lives of soldiers during the Civil War; a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century locomotive factory; and an exciting depiction of the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase.
