
This is the unoffocial home page for Lexington Fire Departments Station 5. Station 5 is one of the 23 fire stations located in Lexington and is the second oldest firehouse in the city, built in 1905. Firehouse 5 houses Engine Co. 5 and Ladder Co. 2, the busiest truck in the city. #5 is in the 5th district, along with firehouses 1,3,and 6, and covers the central section of Lexington as well as the campus of the University of Kentucky. -Brothers of Station 5

8/5/08- Pine Meadow Rd.(2nd Platoon) L-2 responded on a structure fire call as the first in ladder. Upon arrival, crews found fire in the basement of the house. Fire was quickly knocked down, L-2 assisted with overhaul. Additional companies were E-11, E-14, E-13, E-6, L-4, R-1, EC-5, 204, and 242.
New Crew member on third. As of about 2 or 3 months ago, Roger Hibbits, joined the crew of L-2 replacing Bubba Ray Kinmon as he moved on the E-4. F.F. Hibbits joins station 5 from E-13, welcome brother.
7/17/08- Jefferson St. and W. 2nd St. (3rd Platoon) L-2 was first in on one of the biggest fires of the year. The call came in around 9:42a.m. for a structure fire in a pyrotechnics building downtown. L-2, who was on their way to the garage, jumped the run and was the first in company. Upon arrival, L-2 was hit with smoke and flame and went to the roof for ventilation. This fire ended up going to a second alarm and crews founght the blaze for many hours. Smoke was so thick, six city blocks were evacuated around the area. Additional units dispatched were, E-4, E-1, E-10, L-1, E-8, RS-1, 242, 201, E-13, 205, 200, HM-2, MA-1, L-5, 433, 436, and 100, amongst many others. E-5 made it on the second alarm. 7/9/07- David Dr. (1st Platoon) L-2 responded with E-12, E-15, E-9, E-7, L-4, EC-4, RS-1, 202, 204, and 242 to a structure fire in a two story residential. Fire was knocked down quick and contained to room of origin.
7/7/08- 3814 Lady Di Ln. (2nd Platoon) L-2 was dispatched along with E-22, E-7, E-16, E-12, L-7, EC-4, RS-1, 202, and 242 to a reported structure fire in an apartment complex. Upon arrival, crews found minimal smoke from a two story apartment. Units contained fire to an upstairs room, L-2 assisted with placing ladders and overhaul.
6/13/08- 300 Alumni Dr. (2nd Platoon) E-5 and L-2 were dispatched with E-6, E-12, L-1, E-9, RS-1, 202, 205, and EC 4 to a structure fire at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, crews found moderate smoke and fire in the attic of a downstairs apartment in a 2 story apartment complex. E-5 was the third in engine, assisting with search and extinguishing the fire. L-2 was the first in ladder company, performing a search and pulling ceilings for the engine.
6/10/08- 1101 Center Pkwy. (1st Platoon) Storms hit Lexington hard and with that, always comes the possibilities for fires. With the inclement weather in the city, E-5 and L-2 responded to a structure fire across town on a reduced response with E-7, L-6, EC-4, and 202. E-5 was the first in suppresion apparatus with L-2 close behind and made a good stop on the fire. The alarm was filled minutes later after the chaos was over with the addition of L-3, RS-1, 242, E-15, E-22, E-8, 200, 201, and E-16. Fire was in an unoccupied apartment complex and brought under control within a few minutes.
6/6/08- 719 Combs St. (1st Platoon) E-5 and L-2 responded with additional units to a reported structure fire in another abandoned house.
6/5/08- Patterson Dr. and DeRoode St. (3rd Platoon) E-5 and L-2 responded with E-4, E-6, E-13, L-1, RS-1, EC-5, 205, and 203 to a reported structure fire at an abandoned house.
5/25/08- Whispering Hills Dr. (1st Platoon) L-2 was second in on a structure fire with E-22, E-15, E-12, E-7, L-7, 202, 204, and R-1.
5/10/08- 866 Cheryl Ln. (1st Platoon) L-2 responded with E-11, E-12, E-14, L-4, EC-7, RS-1, 204, and other units to a reported structure fire.
5/8/08- Congratulations to Capatin Mark Aldridge On May 8, 2008, after a long two months of waiting and stress, Lt. Mark Aldridge (L-2, 2nd) was read on twice by the city council and approved for a promotion to Captain. Congratulations Capt. Aldridge you earned it friend.
4/29/08- 2074 Fairmont Ct. (2nd Platoon) L-2 was dispatched with E-6, E-12, E-16, E-21, L-6, EC-2, RS-1, 202, and 204 to a report of a fire in a third floor vacant apartment. Crews found smoke visible upon arrival. L-2 went inside and performed a primary search as well as pulling ceilings for the engine company to reach the fire.
4/9/08- 565 Patterson St. (3rd Platoon) This was the second of two structure fires. E-5 and L-2 respond with companies to a structure fire in an abandoned house.
4/9/08- 1201 Cooper Dr. (3rd Platoon) It was a busy shift for the guys on third, with both trucks making two structure fires. The first one, E-5 and L-2 responded with other companies to a reported fire in a basement apartment at an apartment complex.
4/4/08- 165 Lexington Ave. (3rd Platoon) E-5 and L-2 responded with other units to a reported structure fire. Both units were first in with E-5 taking the attack line and extinguishing the fire. L-2 performed a search followed by ventilation. Both units assisted with salvage and overhaul.
3/31/08- 719 Combs St. (3rd Platoon) E-5 and L-2 responded with E-6, E-11, L-5, EC7, 204, 205, R-1, E-12, and 200 for a reported structure fire. L-2 was the first in ladder company and conducted a search of the interior followed by assisting other crews with salvage and overhaul. E-5 was the second in engine.


3/28/08- Station 5 Welcomes New Member The brothers of Station 5 would like to welcome F.F. Bubba Ray Kinmon to L-2 on the dirty third. Firefighter Kinmon comes to 5 from HM-1. Welcome to the house!
3/25/08- 2083 Bridgeport Dr. (2nd Platoon) L-2 was dispatched to a trench rescue along with R-1, E-9, EC-2, 202, R-2, and other units. L-2 assisted the rescue companies,R-1 and E-9, with shoreing and the removal of a man in a trench suffering from back spasms.
3/16/08- 137 Rose St. (3rd Platoon) E-5 and L-2 responded with other companies on a high-rise alarm to an assisted living/nursing home fire on the 12th floor of the downtown building.
3/13/08- 277 Albany Rd. (3rd Platoon)
3/7/08- 219 Patchen Dr. (3rd Platoon) L-2 responded on the 1st alarm with E-9, E-1, E-17, L-6, EC-4, R-1, 202, 201, E-8(RIT) and was the second due ladder. Upon Arrival L-2 went to the roof and ventilated the structure. Fire was upgraded to a second alarm bringing additional companies for manpower. Crew of L -2 assisted with salvage and overhaul.
3/1/08- 1346 Village Dr. (2nd Platoon) L-2 responded on the 1st alarm with E-14,E-11,E-13, L-4, EC-5, R-1, 203, E-12(RIT) and was the second in ladder. Upon arrival L-2 went to the "C" side of the structure to find heavy flame and smoke. L-2 went to the roof for ventilation but found the fire had already vented itsself. Fire was upgraded to a second alarm for more manpower. L-2's crew helped pull ceilings on the third floor in order to gain access to the fire and assisted with overhaul and salvage until replaced by third platoon. View more pics here.
