During our research for this website we found many pro-anorexia websites. We saw the writings of people that had been totally consumed by anorexia nervosa. I would like to define the difference between anorexia and anorexia nervosa. Anorexia is a loss of appetite because of disease and anorexia nervosa is a mental illness. We are talking about anorexia nervosa here; we just want to make that very clear. Anorexia nervosa is a very serious illness. That can result in death, loss of menstrual cycle (period) and many other problems. Please note that we are anti-anorexia.

Many of you may of heard of the famous Mary Kate and Ashley who have been acting since they were nine months old. You also may of heard that Mary Kate recently has become very ill with a disease called anorexia nervosa. Anorexia is a disease that affects millions of girls and boys all over the world. In this new age so many girls think that to be beautiful you're going to have to be thin, what these girls (and boys) must remember is that everyone has a different shape and size. Everyone is unique, no-one should feel under any pressure to look or act in a different way. No one really knows why Mary Kate went anorexic, maybe it was the constant pressure of being in the spotlight of the media 24:7 maybe she felt rivalled by her twin (Ashley) but lucky Mary Kate has realised she has a problem and is know seeking medical help. Many other girls aren?t so lucky. Anorexic people always have very good ways of covering up that they are ill and can often get away with it. If you know someone who is anorexic or you are we urge you to get help as soon as possible in a trusted adult or parent.
