Story Overview: The Second Story provides a unique culmination of two characters stories, Claude C. Kenni & Rena Lanford. While unique these two characters are heavily intertwined in ways they would never originally imagine. At the beginning of the story Claude is basically messing around with his fathers work colleagues until he unwillingly stumbles across a mysterious energy field which despite orders from his fellow colleges to stand back from it he chooses to inspect it further. This transportation ends up sending Claude to an underdeveloped world known as Expel. Shortly after these events he comes across Rena which from there unearths a struggle to see whether Claude try find a way hope while attempting to shake claims on been a “Hero of Light” and getting wound up in the events of Expel, will Claude ever see his father again?

The remake Second Evolution is currently in development and will hopefully be released worldwide before the end of 2008. As of the 14th Mar 08 all original playable characters are confirmed to return in the remake via appearance on the official site.

The remake will also include the following:

Claude C. Kenni

Background: Claude is the son on Star Ocean: First Departures Ronixis J. Kenni. Before the event of Second Story Claude is really nothing more then a shadow of his father, while he too works for his fathers Earth Federation.

Personality: He tends to be rather brash, yet speaks from the heart. Claude possesses strong leadership potential, while he doesn’t completely realise it. Unafraid to speak his mind, while standing up for what he believes in, he also cares for his friends even more then his own well being at times.

Recruitment Info: Whether you select to play as Claude’s story mode or not he will play a large role in either story, he joins automatically.

Rena Lanford

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 100 lbs
Age: 17

Birthday: May 13

Weapon: Gauntlets

Background: Rena resides in the underdeveloped planet of Expel, while she is uncertain of her past as she has Elven ears; something uncommon to the Expel folk. She also possesses rare Heraldic arts which is also uncommon on Expel.

Personality: Rena on the surface appears to be a very happy and contented young girl, although deep down she is concerned of her past which she cannot recall too deeply. She can also be a very serious young lady who finds her showing a romantic side at times which she becomes rather embarrassed of.

Recruitment Info: Rena, like Claude will join your group automatically whether you select her story or not; playing a large role in either story.

Ashton Anchors

Height: 5'11"
Weight: 175 lbs
Age: 20

Birthday: September 28

Weapon: Twin Swords

Background: Ashton is a skilful swordsman who usually quite confident in his abilities has his confidence shatters in a fateful battle with two dragons by the names of Gyoro & Ururun. After this incident he starts to lack confidence in himself and tries to place the blame of an unsuccessful dragon slaying attempt onto others.

Personality: After the fateful event of Gyoro & Ururun Ashton’s perceived overconfidence is shattered, he becomes a very self doubtful man lacking confidence on most occasions. Ashton also has a rather awkward affect with barrels of all things.

Recruitment Info: Should you satisfy certain conditions throughout the story you will have Ashton join your group to undo the damage which he blames you for due to ‘interrupting’ his battle. If you recruit Ashton however some Opera & Ernest will then consequently be unavailable for recruitment. He can be recruited in either Claude’s or Rena’s story.

Bowman Jean

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 172 lbs
Age: 27

Birthday: December 30

Weapon: Gauntlet

Background: Bowman is a Pharmacist in his local residence of Linga, while unqualified in his trade many refer to him as a professor. He is happily married and while seems very content with his lifestyle he also possesses an adventurous side.

Personality: Bowman has a lighter side to him, while he uses a quote such as “Looks like I’ll be popular with the ladies again” he is loyal to his wife and would not change that for anyone. He is a confident and somewhat content man who can see the lighter side of life.

Recruitment Info: During later stages of the game you will be able to recruit either he, or Precis depending on your actions upon your first visit at Linga. He can be recruited in either Claude’s or Rena’s story.

Celine Jules

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 110 lbs
Age: 23

Birthday: September 18

Weapon: Wand

Background: Celine is a treasure hunter and possesses magical abilities known as “Heraldic enchantments”. While she appears beautiful and like a nice lady she can be very cunning when it comes to getting her own way, particularly when treasure is concerned.

Personality: Celine loves to indulge herself in makeup & jewellery, and on most occasions she is very easy to get along with. While single at current she is interested in finding a stronger handsome man whom can make her feel safe in the future.

Recruitment Info: Celine while an optional character will appear rather early in the game and be a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ as to whether you wish her to join, this will occur on both Claude’s & Rena’s story. Recruiting her will not prevent other recruitments either.

Chisato Madison

Height: 5'4"
Weight: 114 lbs
Age: 22

Birthday: October 22

Weapon: Gauntlets

Background: Chisato hails from Nede, and is a news reporter for the Nede Chronicle. She is a black belt in jujutsu and is also soundly proficient with various hand guns, although she of course as a reporter does not use them often

Personality: Chisato while skilled in many areas can be rather forgetful at times, and rather oblivious to danger. While she is generally a rather polite girl she at times finds herself in the most awkward of positions due to lack of planning ahead.

Recruitment Info: Chisato is potentially recruitable in both Claude’s & Rena’s stories providing you have room left in your party for further characters, as she is the last character you can potentially get to join you. Should you trigger a certain sequence of events helping her find her lost ID card she will then become available.

Dias Flac

Height: 6'4"
Weight: 180 lbs
Age: 25

Birthday: August 5

Weapon: Katana

Background: Dias is an incredibly proficient swordsman, perhaps even the best in the land. He fights for a living and will take on almost any task for the challenge of his abilities.

Personality: Dias comes across as a cold hearted emotionless man, and to an extent that’s correct. Yet while he portrays amazing confidence in his own abilities he lacks the confidence to protect others, due to blaming himself for his parents’ deaths some time ago.

Recruitment Info: Dias is only recruitable as an automatic recruitment in Rena’s story, while he makes appearances in Claude’s story he is not recruitable under any circumstances.

Ernest Raviede

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 198 lbs
Age: 35

Birthday: August 31

Weapon: Whip

Background: Ernest is a archaeology professor from the planet Tetragenesis, which is one of the most advanced civilizations in the universe. He has a considerably strong devotion to his job.

Personality: He while having Opera around him at most times cares for his job even more then her, while he is able to ‘put up’ with Opera at the least.

Recruitment Info: Ernest is only recruitable under certain conditions during the game, including having to have Opera in your party before reaching the Hoffman Ruins. He will be available under these conditions for both Claude’s & Rena’s story

Leon D.S Geeste

Height: 4'5"
Weight: 79 lbs
Age: 12

Birthday: November 25

Weapon: Book

Background: Leon while at the young age of 12 is the Head of research at the Lacour Castle laboratory. For a man of his age and his knowledge he is nothing short of a genius. He is quite skilled in making all kinds of devices, including high powered weaponry.

Personality: As a man with such intelligence, and while a child Leon is rather arrogant while in his comfort zone, although that changes dramatically when in foreign situations. He looks up to Claude somewhat like an older brother.

Recruitment Info: Leon will join your group automatically during Claude’s story, although while appearing in Rena’s story he will not be recruitable under any circumstances.

Noel Chandler

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 162 lbs
Age: 24

Birthday: February 16

Weapon: Gauntlet

Background: Noel hails from Nede and is a caretaker of the Synard preserve which he performs with his occupation of a biology professor. Noel formerly was actually an ally of the ten wise men, although wishes to make amends for his relationship with them in the past.

Personality: He enjoys looking after animals although does not feel overly comfortable around fighting monsters; he comes across as a very laid back kind of guy.

Recruitment Info: Noel is one of the easier characters to recruit once dealt with during disk 2, he can potentially join on either Claude’s or Rena’s story.

Opera Vectra

Height: 5'3"
Weight: 110 lbs
Age: 23

Birthday: August 24

Weapon: Ray Gun

Background: Like Ernest, Opera hails from Planet Tetragenesis. Opera comes from a wealthy and noble family.

Personality: Opera is rather obsessive in following Ernest whom she has a deep affection for and follows him all over the galaxy.

Recruitment Info: Recruiting Opera can be achieved early in either Claude’s or Rena’s stories providing certain conditions are met. Recruiting Opera is a must if you with to later recruit Ernest, however should Opera joint the party you will be unable to recruit Ashton.

Precis F. Neumann

Height: 5'1"
Weight: 95 lbs
Age: 16

Birthday: February 29
