A while back, I promised a few of you to update here when I had something concrete to report about the original version of this series, so here I am at one of the milestones. As I type this, I've just put the finishing touches on the actual writing process of the first, original installment, which has been done up entirely from scratch as opposed to later installments where I had been able to use a ton of material direct from the SF-based versions. What can I reveal at this point? One, that the book will have one full-page B&W illustration per each chapter, so I'll be looking for artists that will be able to fit the parameters of what I'm expecting: an aptitude for capturing emotion, detail and action through shading, angle and pose. I'm not being too detailed here because I'm not exactly expecting to solicit potentials through this website - Ill be heading to DeviantART for my search.
But I'd also like to say that Eye Of Darkness will not be the title of the new first installment, and neither Designs Of Doom nor Chaotic Defense will be the title of the new series in general. Without giving anything away, I will say that the new titles will fit nicely into the little titling scheme I've built up for this series over the years.
If all goes well, book one should be available to the public by Christmas.

Wow.
Did this series really play such a huge part of six years of my life? It seems almost unreal when I think about it like that, but it's finished and fully uploaded now, and for what it's worth, I consider it definitely worth my time in retrospect. I hope you've enjoyed it to the end. As for me - I've already started the actual writing process of the original version, so you'll see an update from me on this page when I've some more to report, maybe a sneak peek of what's to come, that sort of thing. Until then - see ya, and happy holidays.

Greetings, all - to be blunt, I've decided to cut the length of Celura's Evenfall from 35 prospective chapters to an even 30. I should make clear that you as readers aren't losing anything in the translation; I had planned for a story that, at my current writing style and average chapter size, fits snugly into 30 chapters. Even then, the only reason I aimed for 35 chapters was for symmetry with SoC. But even now, CE is shaping up to be longer than SoC as far as sheer word counts go - and with definitely more content, considering that with my current writing style, I could easily squash SoC's first ten chapters into a solid five (And cut out the filler as well; could probably chop it to four chapters or something when you take that out). So we're nearing the home stretch - hope you enjoy the rest of it!

Part one of my interview by Foxkong is now up at http://www.fanfiction.net/topic/48531/8196720/2/#8649577 . Part two is coming soon.
(12:42 AM, Sunday August 24, 2008)
Part three (Or six, if you're viewing the two trilogies as a cohesive whole, which I do), Celura's Evenfall, is now up starting with the first chapter, so expect more updates coming soon. As for how my original adaptation of the story is coming: it's going well, and I've got some new subplots (ones that actually rely on it being entirely original) that will tie into the plot. So far, things are looking great and I'm excited about some of the stuff you're going to see in the new version - but I'd better keep mum about it for now. So for now, here's to hoping you enjoy Celura's Evenfall.

Well, as I type this, I've just uploaded the final chapter of Shadow Reach. Just one more installment to go - in the meantime, expect for a sort of commentary from me about SR, detailing some of my thoughts on it and the writing process in case anyone might be interested, since there are a lot of things that I wanted to get off my chest about it and the various things that are going on with that pivotal installment. As for the final installment, expect it soon...
(8:05 PM, Monday April 21st, 2008)
Remember when I said that Shadow Reach would be projected at 30 chapters? Well, as much as I had the outline planned before I wrote a word of it, things will always happen as I go through the story itself. I'm now aiming for the traditional 25 chapters. The fact of the matter is that while 30 sounds nice, I just didn't plan out for the extra amount of substance that would be required of five additional chapters. This means that the remaining few chapters will be much longer than expected, but long-time readers by now have probably expected of me that the last half of each installment typically has a bunch of LAF chapters (long-as-bleep) compared to the first half, so that's nothing too new. I'd rather have a decent amount of long chapters that are better, than have a lot of chapters that are racked with filler (I'm looking at you, original version of FD). Also, the chapter titles that I previewed for you have mostly not been used; again, things happen during the writing process itself and all, but I do hope to use the remaining ones in the future, either in the rest of SR or in the sixth and final installment to this whole shebang, the title and details of which I'll give to you before long. See ya soon!

Well, as I type this, gamers in the land of the rising sun are hard at work unlocking and leaking all the secrets of Smash Bros. Brawl, and don't worry - I won't spoil anything here, just in case. Even though here in Canada, we have to wait until early March, I'm announcing now that I'll be creating custom Brawl stages based on areas, events, etc. in DoD/CD. I hope to upload pics of the stages at worst (At least to get that "ooh" factor in there ;) and share through Wi-Fi at best. I'd love to hear your preferences for stages I can create, so drop me an email (psst: darthvenom75@hotmail.com ) and let me know your favourite scenes, sequences, etc. that can be portrayed half-decently by Brawl's stage creator, so I can create and share the stages so long as you have a Wii and are willing to share your friend codes with me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy holidays! I hope everyone's having a fun break. Even though I've been making steady progress on this story for the past few months, the new year promises to bring some very significant changes for my direction and aim. Somewhere in between the recent near-blackout of feedback from readers, the negative stigma against fanfics and their writers in general and the steep drop-off of many readers at all for my stuff as inferred by FF.net's hit counters, I've determined that I've hit some sort of ceiling and that I can only go so far while continuing to focus so much of my efforts on writing stories based on a video game - let alone efforts that very few people are keeping reading and that even fewer are giving feedback for.
So consider this the official announcement of my future plans: to keep up with and take advantage of my growth as a writer, I've had in my mind for some time now that the general plot and concept of DoD and CD can be, without much muss, adapted to be fully original stories. Original characters like Ashy, Daniel, Velan, the Tonsecritesians, etc. will be there in much the same form as you know them now (Though that insectoid race may end up having a slightly less unwieldy name in the final cut), same with plot arcs and planets, and various backstory and character interaction changes will be made to distance it from its roots in that regard.
Don't panic if you're still reading the story as it is; either as a desire to see this through so that I can have an easier time adapting it, or just so I don't disappoint anybody, I will still be writing the story as a Starfox universe thing through to the end, so if you want to see how everything will come together as a part of the SF universe, don't worry - you can have your cake and eat it too, so nobody loses out. In the finished and original adaptation, many things will be changed and replacing copyrighted material with my original and very differing new material, and I guarantee that you will see some sequences in pristine condition from the original stories, such as the battle of the black hole, the 'insanity sting' arc and more. (With changes of copyrighted things, of course!) I've decided that the characters in the newly original story will also be anthropomorphic. I thought about using humans for a moment to dodge the bullet of people on the internet whining that I'm supporting furries or something, but the people that complain about those things will find something to whine about no matter what and I'm of the mind that anthropomorphic characters give a much greater spectrum of creative diversity, so anthros it is.
I also hope to start talking to publishers once I've designed a substancial segment of the new and original story; like I said, there are elements of fanfic writing that create a ceiling, and yet I like many of the ideas I've presented here too much to let them slip away. Thus, this idea was born. This won't just be a carbon-copy of the SF version minus the copyrighted stuff: I plan to do new main characters with different backgrounds and ways of interacting, and this also gives me a chance to go back and fix many of the things that I was unsatisfied with about the flow of the stories.
So that's the scoop. As always, I welcome and encourage feedback, so shoot me an email if you want to say something.
(5:11 PM, Friday December 28th, 2007)
Off we go! Shadow Reach has been uploaded and is now up and running. Hope you enjoy it. I don't have as much to say here - I'll let the story do the talking.
(10:51 PM, Wednesday July 11th, 2007)
Hey! Now that Snares of Deception, first part in the Chaotic Defense trilogy has been completed, I felt that it was time to share with you, the reader (Or perhaps unwitting passerby) a little info session preview of the next installment in the trilogy, ultimately the fifth installment of the six-part series I’ve been up to.
The confirmed title of the next part is, Shadow Reach. The projected length of the story is 30 chapters, but that may be subject to change. As for the rating, expect something that falls in a higher PG-13, moreso than the other installments. I wouldn’t normally leak these, but some expected chapter titles follow now, although they’re all still somewhat tentative (One of them will be another of those multi-part “arc” chapters).
-Dark Blood
-Starcrossed
-Adversary
-Other Faces
-Land Of The Hunter
-Echoes
I’ll also say that at least several major new worlds will be introduced (And they’ll be quite at odds in terms of technology), and at least one major new character will surface. I hope this tides you over until Shadow Reach gets uploaded, some time in early July if things go well over here.
(3:05 PM, Friday June 29th, 2007)
Well, Snares of Deception is now officially finished - adding to the list of convenient/eerily perfect dates for completion of this six-part series, I finished it on the week of my 18th birthday and uploaded the final chapter on the day of; I hope you enjoy it. For now, I should take a short break to gather up my thoughts and ideas, but until then - coming soon will be an info session-preview of the second installment of the CD trilogy, which I've made a point of keeping pretty tight-lipped about until now. So until next time, see ya!
(11:00 PM, Saturday June 16th, 2007)
Hey, everyone. Sorry for the long...long stretch without an actual news update, but since then more chapters have come in, taking things very well along in SoD. A few other things have recently come up as well - schoolwork/projects, multitasking, and a little thing called Wii and Twilight Princess this past bit - but now I'm more or less back on track, with one exception: those of you who know my style well, know that I synchronize updates at the different hosted locations, and the fanfiction.net location is where I always upload first to because it automatically sets the formatting that I use for this site. With FF.net's recent bizarreness in terms of things not able to be uploaded, I'm at a bit of a formatting issue here, so just bear with me for the next few updates.
Also, coming back to DoD, we haven't seen the last of the first trilogy yet. Nothing is concrete at the moment, but I was recently approached with a very tempting offer that I'd love to see through, though I can't reveal anything at the moment due to the fact that, again, it's all tentative so far. See ya soon.
(7:12 PM, Tuesday April 3rd, 2007)
At the moment, I'm back in business. Delays may or may not occur (as you'll probably have come to expect by now, but who knows), but keep watching for further information and updates.
(11:55 AM, Wednesday September 13th, 2006)
SoD is being placed on hiatus at the moment for an indeterminate period of time; stay tuned for additional information.
(8:47 AM, Saturday June 24th, 2006)
Welcome one and all to the second, and 'sister' website of the original Designs Of Doom site. Work on the sequel trilogy to my previous online Star Fox 'novels' has begun, slowly but steadily. The title of this new trilogy that you see above is, however, tentative and subject to change. (Needed something to put there!) As of this writing, the first chapter of the first installment has been put up, and the second chapter is underway. You'll also notice the design template of this new site, which seems to perfectly fit the sci-fi abundance in the setting once again. Thank you once again, Freewebs. As for you, the reader - I hope you enjoy.
