Protoss:Psionic Warriors

The Protoss are arguably the best race in all of SC. Their units are most definitly the strongest, and can take a real beating. They can also warp in their buildings which means 1 probe can make an entire base in a minute. The problems with protoss are: their units take the longest to build, their units cost the more, and a large amount of their forces are slow (some can be upgraded to be fast and the corsair is very fast without upgrading). Protoss shouldnt be used by noobs since noobs barely ever mine enough to get a good economy going. A rule of thumb for knowing which race to be is,

Protoss>Terran

Terran<Zerg*

Zerg>Protoss*

Kinda like rock paper scissors.

*1 of the people need to be noob or expert for this matchup to end this way. Or if both are moderate players and dont rush.

Zerg:Mutant insects/animals

The Zerg are the weakest race in all SC (weakest units not all around), they also create the fastest, their units cost somewhat less of the 2 other races, and they are made 3 at a time from the main building (hatch/lair/hive), this allows u to create an entire army at once if u have enough hatches. Unfortunately u have to sacrifice a drone to create a building so create 1 or more drones for each building u build. Zerg ground units can also burrow, so u can spring surprise attacks against passing enemy units. Be warned....... for Zerg can waste an entire attack force and when their enemy comes to their main base, their will be a fresh new one waiting!!!!

Terran:human pioneers of space

Terran are the middle-class race of SC, with a balanced airforce and a balanced ground force, they dont have a large assortment of strong units like the protoss, they also have many robotic units same as the protoss, except they have more abilities. Unlike the Protoss who have many magic abilities and regular abilities. In my opinion they are the worst race in all SC though they have some of the best units, Seige Tanks/BattleCrusiers/Valks/Science Vessels/Goliaths.
