The Friends of Stanton Road Cemetery Group was set up some years ago with only 7 members. These were mainly local residents whose main interest was to make sure the council owned Cemetery was looked after and well maintained.

One of the leading members was Joan Hunt who had lived close by for most of her life and she is still a very active member.

As membership grew a committee was formed and is now Chaired by Helen Varnam and supported by Mike Sanders who acts as Secretary. Both put in a tremendous amount of work and effort to ensure the aims of the group are carried out smoothly and efficiently and we now have a group of over 40 members from all parts of the town.
