Standtall2 offers you an eclectic blend of influences, ranging from mostly progressive, techno and classical sources. It sounds like no one else.
On each page of this site, you'll find an excerpt from the new standtall2 2007 album. In the discography page however, you'll hear a musical "collage" of the upcoming album "The epic: from the caves". It will be a 45 min.+ suite that should be released at the end of 2007.

Next album is over!
Guess what! Less than 3 months after launching the standtall2 eponymous album and starting promoting it, the next one is already completed! I've even included a Quebec folk inspired section as a result of a challenge by my wife!!! From the caves: The epic, a 42 minutes 25 seconds long unique song will be available at the end of this year. I will now concentrate on the artwork and writing the storyline which will support this long instrumental. Of course the promotion of the current album will be another of my preoccupation.
MARC is going to the FMPM festival!
On Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16, 2007 I will attend the "Festival des musiques progressives de Montréal at the Salle Pierre-Mercure of the Pierre-Peladeau Center in Montreal. The festival will be featuring THE STRAWBS, IQ, SAMLA MAMMAS MANNA, MIRIODOR, NATHAN MAHL, VILLE EMARD BLUES BAND and HAMADRYAD ! Can't wait!!!! Standtall2 2007 eponymous album now on sale!!!
After a two month saga trying to put the new album for sale online, there it is finally!!!!. You can get it for 12.99 $ at: http://www.cafepress.com/standtall2music . Got my hand on the product and I am quite satisfied of the result for a self-produced album. It is not produced from mp3's as anticipated but in full cd quality! I will keep you informed on upcoming reviews on prog sites.

Just finished a frantic metal section. The epic song is now more than 34 minutes long. 11 minutes to go!!!!

Second Master CD lost!!!
Feels like "deja vu"!!! I've been informed by cafepress.com that they did not received (let's say lost again...) the second master CD I've sent them. I quit on this one. Since it seems I can't get my master to them right. I uploaded to their site MP3's of my eponymous album tracks. I regret to have to produce my album in that manner. I hope the sound quality will still be acceptable. As soon that I get my hands on the product and can assure that the quality is reasonable, I will make it available through http://www.cafepress.com/standtall2music .
Next album developments
The upcoming epic "one track album" is now 31 minutes 42 seconds long! Less than 14 minutes left!
Three new parts have been added.
The first one starts off with elegant chamber music and instruments including oboe and cellos. It soon turns into a hard rock section. It's now the rockier guitar part of the whole epic. It closes down in a slower pace remiscent of some Genesis songs.
The second one is a frantic canon suite. Those who are fond of Gentle Giant will surely appreciate!
The last one is, to say the least, weird! I'm not sure it fits the general idea of the Epic. It may not serve the unity of the piece. It may or may not be on the final mix. I'll sit on it for a while and see how it will fit the next parts!!!!

Master CD lost!!!
Guess what! I've been informed by cafepress.com that they did not received my master. So I'll have to send them another one. No standtall2 album available for sale in the next weeks... Quite disappointing. In fact, they did received it and lost it. Here's what they had to say:
" Dear Marc ,
Thank you for contacting CafePress.com! We have contacted our production facility and received status on your master CD. Unfortunately, our receiving department has informed us that they have not received your master CD. Can you confirm to us the location you had your CD shipped to verify that the information is correct. "
Here is what I've answered:
" In fact, you should say that your receiving department lost my master CD. I shipped it express post (Canada post) and received from them a confirmation that they delivered it at the adress found on the master form.So you lost it!"

The standtall2 2007 album is still unavailable
Have contacted cafepress.com again, ask them to check if they lost my cd master or what. Quite annoying delay to say the least. I will harass them till I get the cd online; you can count on me!
New developments in the next epic album saga!!!
On the last news update, I told you about the "matric soundtrack" soundalike new section. I splitted it in two and inserted in between, a soft rhodes rythm with xylophones, organ and others sounds floating over it. Works quite well. Added another part (I think it's the eight one, but have lost track of it!!!!). This one starts off with a "Money" drum beat. Had quite a hard time not to make it sounds like the Pink Floyd classic and succeeded! You'll find there my craziest synth solo to date! The song/future album is now 20 minutes 36 seconds long!!!!

The new epic album is now 15 minutes and 36 seconds long! The new movement is quite different from the first 4 parts. This one is quite in the techno side of prog. My wife's son is telling me that it reminds him of "The Matrix" soundtrack. I remember the movie well but strangely, I have no recollections of the music in it! Well, should fit in!!!!

The new album "The epic: from the caves" is now 11 minutes and 09 seconds long. 4 gigantic parts have been stitched together and work quite well together. Mellotrons, violins, trumpets, and back loops are on the menu. Got some problems with the drum mix but it seems ok by now!
