Newsletter #3 (Released April 1, 2007)

Message from the Founder...

I have been busy finishing up my new video. It has been almost a year since my last DVD, so I am very excited about this new one and as soon as I finalize a few more things, I will release it. Members of the website will have a promotion set up for it when it is released.

I just finished another project with Virgil Aponte, which he will be releasing soon called JumpExperts. It is a compilation of vertical jump programs developed by numerous fitness coaches which I am fortunate to have been included in with. More info on that coming soon.

The website is doing well and growing each day. So many people ask me...who are you? My response is that I am just a trusted and learned friend who shares his knowledge and experience with those that want it. I am no big-name coach, although I am fortunate enough to communicate with some on a weekly basis because they share the same passion that I do and believe in expanding the knowledge base of trainers and gym-goers alike. Thank you guys and gals! You make standAPART, stand apart from the millions of other websites! Be sure to check out the website updates at the bottom of this page!______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Why the Stick?

The Massage Stick is a much more favored tool for self myofascial release nowadays. Why? Simple...more control of and isolation of tender spots. The foam roller has always been the number one SMR tool chosen and its popularity is growing rapidly. I have seen Foam Rollers for sale in Target and WalMarts! However, because of their sheer size and obtrusive shape, high density foam rollers are hard to pack up and find in good condition.

Recently, I have been using the Massage Stick for my tissue treatment and it has been AMAZING! The Massage Stick is comes in two sizes. The one featured in the pic on the left is 14". I use it daily to treat the thorocolumbar fascia of the lower back because the foam roller can be little unforgiving on that area. So the Stick makes it managable and beneficial because I can control the amount of tension I place on any tender spots and I can target hard to reach areas (obliques, QL, psoas, etc).

The Massage Stick can be used before your workout as part of your movement preparation/warm up or it can be used after your cool down. I typically use it at the end of my workout followed by some stretching. My flexiblity has improved greatly, and lower back aches have disappeared. It fits nicely into my gym bag and is easily transportable. This is a perfect addition to any performance enhancing program and has paid for itself!    - John Izzo
