Station 17

Home of the Fightin' 17

Welcome to Firehouse 17

Welcome to the unofficial web-site of station 17, home of the “Fightin’ 17”. Station 17 is located on the east side of Marion County and is one of two special operations stations that specialize in technical rescue incidents. Located in Marion County’s district 3, Firehouse 17 primarily protects the neighborhood of Silver Spring Shores and it's immediate surrounding areas. We protect a population of approximately 30,000 residents in a 15 sq. mile suburban area with a significant industrial contingent.

We currently house the county's only ladder truck, and outside of the traditional fire department duties, 17 responds to any technical rescue incidents (high angle, building collapse, heavy extrication) and also is home to members of Florida USAR Task Force 8. Since its opening in 1986, Firehouse 17 has taken tremendous pride in protecting the neighborhood of “The Shores” with an average of 2300 calls for service annually. Firehouse 17 is home to 3 lieutenants, 3 driver engineers and 12 firefighters across three shifts housing an engine, a ladder, a squad, and a grass unit. Take a look through our web site and you will see we get plenty of work!
