Update

Just a short update for those of you who have wondered what I've been doing with my Squarebird.

In a word:  nothing.

That's actually not true.  I *have* been doing some things, just nothing worthy of putting up here.

I finally ordered the rear end parts I needed, and I've ordered a bracket kit for rear disk brakes.  Still have to find the calipers (and other parts) but that'll happen.  I'm also ordering a front end disk kit that will allow me to use the existing spindles.

I'll add pics and such once I get everything I need for this project.  I'll just have to remind myself to take them as I'm working!  ;)

Oct 7: I finally took some pictures of the rear suspension parts I bought from Rare Parts. I've had them for a couple of months but didn't have a working camera (now I do).  $800.00, ugh (the parts, not the camera)!  There goes the budget for this year. :(  You can see them in the "Parts" section.

I also bought another Squarebird (for parts), a '59. I have to say that I absolutely HATE the idea of cutting up one of these beautys, however sometimes sacrifices have to be made.  And even tho I think the '59 was the best looking of all the Squarebirds, I want a '58.  The body is in much better shape, but like my '58, the underside (trunk, floor pans, etc) is pretty much rusted away.  Before you say, "Use the '58 to fix the '59" please understand that I want a '58 -- fixing the '59 is not an option.  ;)  I may also be getting a '60, ONLY because it has A/C and I can take what I need and sell off the rest.  The price is right ($500) so even if all I used from it were the A/C parts, it'd be worth it IMO.

I'll put some pictures of the '59 up here once I get it home.

Oct 29:  Got the '59 home today.  The '60 will arrive sometime this week, or over next weekend depending on how I feel.  Gawd are these Birds in bad shape.  Check them out under "New Birds."

At Purchase:

This is what she looked like when I bought her.  Not too bad, but there were many suprises to be found!

Another View at Purchase:

Not bad.  A little rough, but ... This car has possibilities!

Home at last!

After trying to buff out the paint, this was about the best I could get it. Obviously she would need new paint.  Of course I had already planned on returning her to her original Raven Black, just not necessarily this soon.  I wanted to enjoy her a bit first.

Oh ... Pay no attention to the junk in the garage. <G>
