Fire Ball |
Description:
In this tutorial you will learn how to make a Fire Ball in 9 steps. |
Step 01:
First of all, open Adobe Photoshop & create a new document by pressing (Ctrl+N).
I use this setting.
- Name: Fire Ball
- Size: 400x400 pixels
- Color Mode: RGB color
- Resolution: 72 dpi
- BG Contents: Transparent
Now fill the background of a document with Black "#000000" color.
Make a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N).
Make a new oval selection with the circle marquee tool.
Make the selection on the middle and to the right.
Fill the selection with White "#ffffff" colour.

Step 02:
Press (Ctrl+D) to deselect the selection.
Go to Filter-Stylize-Wind
And follow this setting.
- Method: Wind
- Direction: From the right
Repeat this filter 3 times more by pressing (Ctrl+F).

Step 03:
Select the Smudge Tool (Shift+R) and select a fuzz Ball brush around size "30". Now it's time to make the flames.
Start smudging from the right to the left and try to nudge the mouse slightly up and down to make it looks more like flames.
Finish it by smudging from the left to the right, try to get a few grey strokes onto the large white areas.

Step 04:
Make a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N).
Hold down "Ctrl" and click the "layer 1" to make a selection of it.
Press "D" to reset the colors.
With the "layer 2" selected go to Filter-Render-Clouds.

Step 05:
With the "layer 2" still selected go to Layer-Layer Style-Outer Glow.
And follow this setting as shown below.
If you want the ball to glow even more just change the size to a higher value.

Step 06:
Make a new layer directly under the "layer 2" and fill it with Black "#000000" color.
Select the "layer 2" and press "Ctrl+E" to merge it with the new black layer.
Auto name this layer to "Layer3" and make it invisible for now.

Step 07:
Select the "layer 1" and press "Ctrl+E" to merge it with the "Background" layer.
With the "Background" layer selected. Go to Image-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation (Ctrl+U).
And follow this setting.
- First check "Colorize"
- Hue: 25
- Saturation: 50
- Lightness: 0
Go to Filter-Blur-Gaussian Blur. Choose "1.0" pixel radius.

Step 08:
Select the "layer 3".
Go to Image-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation (Ctrl+U).
And follow this setting.
- Hue: 45
- Saturation: 50
- Lightness: -25
Don't forget to check "Colorize".

Step 09:
Set the blending mode of the "layer 3" is "Color Dodge". |
Result:
Here is a result of Fire Ball.
