Warming Up the World
One Afghan At A Time
2008
Cancer doesn't effect you, until it happens to you, or to someone you love.
Last summer, I had Thyroid surgery for the cancer it delevoped over the years.
I stayed over night in the hospital after the surgery. I layed in my hospital
bed, in pain, not being able to sleep.
My view outside my window, was the Children's Cancer building. Believe me,
I stopped complaining about my pain. I was able to leave the next morning. The
children, and teenagers are not.
Before my Thyroid surgery. I
had to take a radiation pill for the scanning of my Thyroid. I was sick for
the week, and couldn't be around anyone, because of the radiation. I had over
100% tempatures for almost every night. I have to take anti-seizure medicines,
but I couldn't keep them down. I was always afraid to sleep because of that.
I recently had infusions. I was always low on Iron. Never knew this until
a few years ago. After my surgery, I had the infustions for the red blood cells.
You can say, my energy has upted a notch. I had a hard time now, just sitting
down for more than a few hours. As "Monk" always says, "It's a gift;and, a
curse".
I recently started a new meet up group for Project Linus. Handmade afghans
for children, to teenagers in need of support. You can look it up on line.
Warming Up the World is something I also just started, due to what I explained
above. Here's the link to the American Cancer website for also more information.
