There's a dearth of good information on the web about 17th century clothing for re enactors.  I don't mean this to be, nor will it ever be, an ultimate guide to 17th century clothing, but I'm going to put out what the Elizabethan and Tudor community has been doing for many years:  clothing diaries.

My clothing diaries will primarily focus on what was worn by men and women during the Thirty Years' War, because of my involvement with Col. Gaffneyis Regiment of Pike and Shotte.  Unlike the Elizabethan and Tudor community, who have gorgeously elaborate dresses to reconstruct, I'm going to be focusing mostly on what the common foot soldier and his wife would wear because I simply don't have the time, money, or inclination to reproduce court dress of the 17th century.  Plus I like to be able to breath while wearing my clothing.

I'm not going to cover basic how-to techniques.  Card weaving, knitting, and sewing have been extensively covered elsewhere.  I found The Tudor Costuming Page to be very helpful with period sewing techniques.  I will, however, go into detail with techniques I have found difficult to find information on on the internet, such as weaving period-correct fabrics, punto in aria and other period lace techniques, and some other needle work techniques.
