Step-by-Step Instructions to Podcast Making Waves
"Podcasting" is the idea of automating the process of downloading new shows whenever they are released. First, download 'Juice'. Install it (using the user guide if needed). During installation, I suggest you DO select the option to "Add to Startup Group." When installed, make a folder on your "desktop" for the audio files to go (right-click on desktop, new, folder... name it PODCASTS).
Start 'Juice,' and select FILE, then PREFERENCES. There you can select what folder you want the audio files put in (PODCASTS), and other important options. The PLAYER and GENERAL tabs are probably the only ones you need to look at... I suggest you select "at startup only show juice in the system tray" and "run a check for new podcasts...". Click SAVE when done. Click on TOOLS, then SCHEDULER. Select ENABLE SCHEDULER and CHECK AT REGULAR INTERVALS. I suggest you have it check every half hour.
SUBSCRIBING TO MAKING WAVES
Click the SUBSCRIPTIONS tab in 'Juice', then the green PLUS icon. Copy and past the following 'URL' into that window...

This link was corrected June 2009.
You should see a listing of Making Waves shows come up. Note there is a part A and B, the two halves of each show. Right-click on shows for various options. You can play the files directly from this program when they are downloaded. You can also transfer the audio files to any MP3 player (not just iPods) to listen anywhere!

ADVANCED PODCAST INFO
For those who want to know exactly what's going on, the RSS feeds you are subscribed to are listed in a file on your hard drive. Look in C:\documents and settings\[account folder]\application data\ipodder\favorites.txt . Here's what I'm currently subscribed to, mostly elements and sources for Making Waves production. Note I did crash the program when I changed that text file while Juice was running, and then there was some erratic behavior until I erased it and the cfg files and re-did my subscriptions and preferences with the interface Juice provides.
