Welcome to the SPPHASA website. The SPPHASA (Standardbred Pleasure and Performance Horse Association of South Australia), promotes the Standardbred horse in all equestrian sports, from harness racing to dressage, whatever equestrian event you name a Standardbred can do it! Most of all, we are here to promote a life after racing!

SPPHASA Inc. was formed in 1999 and has grown ever since. The aim of this association is to promote the Standardbred as Pleasure AND Performance Horses and to help give them a life after harness racing.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION 

  • To promote the Standardbred as race horses and as pleasure and performance horses.
  • To raise the profile of the Standardbred in all equestrian events.
  • To provide fair and equal competition in all aspects of equestrian events.
  • To prove that the Standardbred is as good as any other breed in all aspects of the equestrian arena.
  • To inform the public of the versatility of the Standardbred.
  • To promote the good nature and temperament of the breed.
  • To provide a vehicle for owners of the Standardbred to meet and communicate.

 
ABOUT SPPHASA
  • Provide an opportunity for owners to present their purebred and partbred Standardbreds
  • Assists owners to raise the level of their skills in all aspects of presentation, training and competition
  • Ecourages owners to compete against other breeds at many fun days & competitions held annually
  • Race, Breed, Show or Performance, the SPPHASA offers a variety of activities and awards in a number of disciplines.

*(Note: Horses must have minimum 25% Standardbred bloodlines and proof of all bloodlines are required on application for registration. Without this registration, partbred Standardbred horses cannot compete in breed competition as a partbred Standardbred in South Australia. Events for Partbreds will be held subject to numbers)
