The annoying AOL Search pop-up, current resolve:
general date March 2009

Not sure if this is connected or when AOL put the item in place.
However, you can try as a first option and see if the search pop-up
and or any other annoying advertising vanishes.

You will likely need to be logged into AOL, for the process to work.

After which, if no success, try the items below.

A big factor seems to be IE 6.

Solutions may not work on computers with IE 6.
You may need the select to block pop-up tick box found in IE 7 'Privacy' tab, look just below the 'Cookie Block', but not always in relation to this particular AOL search pop-up.

Do note. If doing copy and paste, make sure you include ONLY the required wording shown in BLUE and not the space at end.

Some suggestions show same ideas and variations of spelling the added item. It is a case of try what you want and see what happens. The items below either on their own or in combination, may resolve the pop-up problem. But for every success, there will be a computer set-up where the suggestions just do not work.

This cover all long fix from G7FSI, seems to do the job.

First part.
Click "Start">
Click "Control Panel"> Click "Internet Options">
> Click "Security Tab"> Click, "Restricted Sites"> then click "Sites" button >
Enter items.......
http://aka-cdn-ns.adtech.de (Click "add Button")
then.....
http://uk.at.atwola.com (Click "add Button")
Click "Close".

Second part.
Click "Privacy tab"> Click "Sites">
Enter items.......
adtech.de (click "Block" button)
then....
atwola.com (click "Block" button)
Click "OK".
Make sure the "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" is on.
Click "Apply" if  highlighted, then click "OK".

There is a cut down version of the long fix, which worked for Bazsure.

Start> Control Panel > Network & Internet Connections >
Internet Options > Security > Restricted Sites >
Sites >
Enter............ http://uk.at.atwola.com
Click Add / Close / OK

A revised version from Bazsure, which also seems to work.
I've broken down the whole pop-up thing.

1) Complete block:
Control Panel > Network > Internet Options >
Security > Restricted Sites > Sites >
Enter......... uk.at.atwola.com
Click Add > Close > OK

2) Partial or not working:
Entering....... http://aka-cdn-ns.adtech.de (shows an empty panel).
Entering..... atwola.com  [works but blocks US board headings] (but not UK).

Note..... No - Internet Options > Privacy entries work for this popup.

Another possible revision by Mikerobe, for some maybe is this,
also fits with the Bazsure first part 1) Complete block: above......

In my list of restricted 'sites' the entries are written in a format omitting http://
By entering  uk.at.atwola.com  success appears to have been achieved.

Another way working for some, try this......

Go to control panel - click internet options - click security tab.

Click restricted sites - click sites button
add the following addressess:
aka-cdn-ns.adtech.de
uk.at.atwola.com
atwola.com,
adtech.de
www.adtech.de

close box,

Then go back to Control panel - Internet options and click the Privacy tab.
Click the 'pop-up blocker' settings button and add the same sites as above.

Re-launch AOL and the pop-up should now be disabled.

It is not an absolute, that suggestions made will work for all computers.
If you have a fail, you can e-mail this help and report back with details of your set up.
Like XP, Vista, Service Pack 1,2 or 3, IE 6,7 or 8 and so on.
If a common item, like IE 6 keeps showing, it may explain the fails.

If you find a solution which is different and can show it works,
also e-mail this service, so resolve can be posted.
