I've only just hit the half-way mark of Stephen King's latest novel, Duma Key and let me just say that I cannot put the book down. The narrative from the protagonist is so smooth it's just like watching a movie. It is seamless and I plan on finishing it by this weekend. To be honest I couldn't get into Lisey's Story and when I considered buying Duma Key I was little dubious. That was erased by the time I hit the first few pages. It swept me up and taken me on a fun ride.
At the beginning of this year, I made a solemn vow to myself, that I would put it off no longer, that I would actually read the entire Dark Tower epic.
To be honest I don't really class myself as a fan of the fantasy genre and I was a little reluctant to read The Dark Tower because I didn't want to be disappointed. So I took the plunge and read The Gunslinger. Three words: it was awesome! I couldn't get my hands on the next two volumes quickly enough.
Now I am half way through The Wastelands and it is the best yet in the series. I had no idea I would enjoy the series so much. King's writing is at its peak in these books and I regret not reading the series sooner. Shame on me!
Cheers!
