Hiigara utilizes a defense network with multiple layers which makes any attempting to cull the Hiigaran people think twice.

The First Line of defense and checkpoint, the Tanis Class Bases, ensure that the controller's orders are followed out, and protect the shipping lanes. Although they have but light defences and only strikecraft squadrons, they have long protected us from many a raider. This provides Hiigara an excellent detection range, and allows Space Traffic Controllers to see all ships moving within the vacinity, and helps them to keep Hiigara's massive shipping lines safe. They are typically desployed a few kilometers out from the gates, and patrol the lanes to ensure orders are carried out and raiders are in-check. Although they are only 5% of the defensive force combined, they are the 5% that is most combat-hardened; hundreds of raiders attack Hiigara each year and attempt to sieze valuable cargo that floods in and out from the planet, and many have fallen to these first responders.

Next Up are the Gates. The gates ensure that no one brings in contraband or unknown weaponry, as well as provide security checkpoints. Gates are garrisoned moderately to defend from organized terrorist attacks to moderate military defense, holding off until help arrives.

Next are the Inhibitors. The Hyperspace Inhibitor bases are small, modified Tanis Class Bases that have powerful Gravity distortion Drives that prevent any large force from simply moving through slipspace to close-in on Hiigara. All ships who wish to continue to Hiigara must pass through the Eyes Of Arran; the hyperspace gates that open up a direct wormhole to the defense stations of Hiigara (pictured above).

Past those are the main six checkpoints, and the major military bases of Hiigara. Picture below are a few. These bases contain roughly 60% of Hiigara's Defense force at any given time, and are more than capable of removing any threat to the sacred planet. The Angel Moon orbits behind them. They are also where most trade ends up. They act as a final checkpoint for all goods and people in-bound to Hiigara. Most trade ships deposit their cargo here.






If someone manages to get past these monolith bases, however, that is not their final task. They have merely jumped out of the frying pan, and into the fire, for a much worse wepon now awaits them. The 6 Pride of Hiigara class Motherships and Shipyard facilites give yield to none. They maintain another 35% of our defensive force, with the last 5% being out front at the Tanis bases. However, even this fearsome fighting force is the least of your worries. The main concern for attackers in this stage are the 300 MAC cannons in High Orbit around Hiigara. The MAC (Magnetic Accelerator Cannon) guns, pictured below,

fire massive, 100,000 ton Tungsten-Ferrite shells at a rate of once per minute at a speed of 90,000 meters per second (3.0% the speed of light), gutting even Battlecruisers from stem to stern. These massive orbital cannons stand as the last defense to Hiigara, and a a fearsome sight indeed. They also find themselves providing fire support to the monolith defense bases which are stationed two-hundred-fifty km out, and even to the gates, which are around seven-hundred-fifty km out.
