Update:

February 10th, 2012

Judging is now complete and all votes have been tallied for the viewers choice! We are working on banners as well as reviews. We do have quite a few of them to write so we appreciate your patience. We hope to have them done in a couple weeks, if not sooner.
Viewers choice went rather well and we will keep this going until further notice. Thank you everyone for being so compliant.

To all SYTYCV contestants, viewers, and supporters:

We have now opened the voting for the no effects challenge. Each contestant received a video to upload which will inform their viewers that voting for this round is now open.
A play-list has been made for the SYTYCV channel. This is where viewers will be able to watch all the videos for the no effects challenge. Once watching through all of them, decide which video they like best and cast a vote. Viewers have a limit of 5 videos to vote for, and can not vote the same video twice.
A video has been uploaded to the YouTube SYTYCV channel. All votes must be cast on said video, or your votes will not count.

Where to cast votes: Here

Any votes made on the actual entry or the contestants 'vote now' video on their channel will not be contributed to the votes. Contestants are free to vote, but are not allowed to vote for them selves and are also only allowed to vote ONCE. For one video of their choice.

The viewers choice award will not reflect the judges scoring system. A vidder might not make it to the next round but still win the viewers choice award. Please keep in mind the viewers choice award is separate from the judges choices.

If everything runs smoothly with the voting system this challenge, we will continue to do it through out the competition. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask the judges. Good luck to all of you!

An update is over due. We've had major technical difficulties with the site. Mainly the pages not working or being edited properly which lead us to update this late.

Unfortunately we are running a bit behind schedule. There were a quite a few contestants who entered their videos late which held us back a little in judging. There was a lot of mix up with the deadline as well. Please be sure to know exactly when that is. YouTube was also having a laugh because a couple contestants mentioned not seeing their entry after it was accepted. We aren't sure why this happens but it's always a good idea to double check in case!

We very much appreciate your patience and will have the results posted shortly. Sorry everyone.

The SYTYCV S3 Audition round is officially finished being judged. Results can be located on the Finalists' page. We want to thank everyone who took part this year! Each entry submitted was a joy to watch and judge!

To those who made it to the Semi-Finals:
There are two groups of semi-Finalists. Please look for your name on both lists of Semi-Finals JR or Semi-Finals SR.
If you are on the Semi-Finals JR list. You will be participating in the current challenge to determine whether or not you will be progressing into our Semi-Finals SR. For guidelines on this challenge please visit the Guidelines page located on the navigation bar. Thank you!

If you are on Semi-Finals SR. list You will not be participating until the next challenge which will begin October 1st 2011. You have secured a spot in the competition until a later time. In the meantime you are more than welcome to show support to those currently participating. Congratulations and thank you for your patience.

To those who did not make it past auditions: We want to encourage everyone to continue video editing and expressing them selves through this art form. Each and every single entry we received was fantastic this year. Some did not progress due to misreading the rules, and others because of not falling under judging criteria. Setting the judging criteria aside, every entry was extremely intriguing. We were introduced to so many brand new fandoms and vidders thanks to all of you. Please do not feel discouraged, continue editing and expressing your love for said fandoms. Each participant did an outstanding job! Although you will not be taking part in the challenges, you're more than welcome to continue taking part of the competition by showing support to those editors who are. Thank you and happy vidding!

If you have any questions regarding why you did not make it past auditions, we suggest reading our judging criteria to get an idea of what we look for. That can be located on the About page. There were a few of you who did not follow rules through completely, main one being a minimum of 40 second snippets. We deducted points based how many rules were broken, which made your overall score suffer. We will not be able to answer individual questions as to why you did not progress, we sincerely apologize. If you would like to learn a thing or two please continue following the competition until the Finalist challenges.

Please don't forget to thank our amazing co-judges Michelle and Gaby who did a spectacular job! Judging all of the entries was extremely hard this year. We appreciate the hard work ladies, thanks a million.

If any of you have any questions regarding the current challenge don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for your patience, happy vidding!

We went through each video making sure they followed the rules and on the 10th and 18th all entries were up to date. If you submitted but did not see your video response it is because you didn't read the rules completely. We will be doing this again on the 25th, and all pending video responses will either be approved or denied. Please make sure to read the rules if you wish to submit.

date: Sunday, August 6th, 2011

date: Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Video Package updated information: We would like your video video snippets to be a minimum of 40 seconds for the video packages. Each video snippet can exceed 40 seconds in length if you want to show us a bigger piece of your selected video snippet. You must keep a part or your whole video running for 40 seconds with out being cut.
Example:
Video a. 00:45 seconds
Video b. 2:00 minutes
Video c. 1:00 minute
Video d. 00:40 Seconds

You are not supposed to cut up your video into different parts and place it at random spots of your package. We are not asking for a music video of your music videos. Simply previews of the videos you feel showcase your editing style to it's full potential and versitality.

A rule has been added to the rule page
15. No collaborations are allowed. The video you submit must be a video of entirely your own edit. The only exception is if the collaboration/mep piece is 40 seconds or longer. For example - Four, 10 second pieces that = 40 seconds, would not be allowed. The 40 second piece from a collab/mep needs to be a complete continuity of editing. Also you'd need to re-upload only your piece, to avoid us judging the whole video, just your edited piece.

Date limitation Information:You are allowed to enter videos dated as far back as you please. However, we suggest entering newer videos since we would be able to get a better viewing of your style now as opposed to 11 months back. The choice is yours.

COPYRIGHT ISSUES INFORMATION: If you are having a problem uploading a video due to copyright. We will accept a link from another streaming site such as 4shared. In order for us to view this submission you will need to creat a text video which informs us of the link in the description, and that text video will need to be posted as a video response. The video response is crucial.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Remember to read all the rules & good luck!
