Southern Fist Kung Fu Club of Arizona

The Southern Fist Kung Fu Club of Arizona is an organization dedicated to the instruction and preservation of Classical Southern Chinese styles of Martial arts, also known as Kung Fu.  The individual styles are taught in Classical / Traditional manner.

Classical Southern Chinese styles of  martial arts were developed as practical and efficient methods of self-defense.

Imitating animals real and mythical has been done by martial artist for centuries both for protection and health.

Family styles passed down to either selected few or the general public has also been done for centuries to maintain and preserve there unique traits.

The Chinese Martial Arts training offered are:

LUNG YING (Dragon Shape)

BAK MEI  (White Eyebrow)

HUNG GA KUEN  (Hung Family Fist)

MOK GA KUEN  (Mok Family Fist)

TOISAN BAK HOK (Toisan White Crane)

 

 

Foundation

The fundamentals are the foundation to greater competence in any martial art. The basics are designed to develop complete body coordination necessary to become proficient in either of these martial systems. The proper alignment of physical movement and breathing is emphasized to maximize power and energy.

Empty Hand Forms

Prearranged sets of technique that train the body to react  both defensively and offensively are taught in a progressive and methodical manner indigenous to each system's theories.

Weapons

Instruction in various types of traditional Chinese weapons such as the Staff, Spear, Swords, etc... are available to students who have already gained proficiency and control with the empty-handed principles of either of  these systems.

Sparring & Self-Defense

Reaction drills and prearranged sequences practiced under controlled supervision lead to more workshop oriented practical applications. Endurance and tournament training is provided upon request. Also when the instructor feels the practitioner is ready for such training.

As an alternative to familiar everyday workouts, the routines practiced during training sessions serve to:

LION DANCE

Lion Dancing evolved from myth and superstition is an intregal part of Chinese Martial Arts as well. Since its beginning it helps the lion dancer get strong stances, strength, balance,coordination, and stamina by the movements which are performed.

Lion Dance Training is taught from the sequences of the walking pattern and head and tail jesters. To the music which is a crucial part of the performance.

The practitioner is taught the Cymbals, Gong, Drum. Part of the dance also incorporates the jolly Buddha. which is also instructed.
