Update - Diana's Home Coming Birthday Party- 06/20

Thousands Attend Idol Birthday Bash
Several thousand fans showed up at Stone Mountain Park to celebrate the birthday of Snellville's favorite idol, who turned 17.

Diana DeGarmo, who placed second in this season's "American Idol" competition, performed five of her songs and signed autographs and took pictures with fans for several hours.

The first fans showed up around 1 p.m. for "Diana DeGarmo's Hometown Birthday Bash," about three hours before festivities were scheduled to begin. It was a homecoming for the singer, who has been on the talk show circuit since the last episode of "American Idol" aired May 26th.

On the stage where she performed her songs, DeGarmo was presented with a seven-tier birthday cake and flowers by Snellville City Councilman Bruce Garraway.

The crowd sang "Happy Birthday" to DeGarmo.

Fan Kim Chambers of Atlanta says she was pulling for the Snellville native on the Fox television show, and she has faith that DeGarmo will make it despite her second-place finish.

DeGarmo lost a million-dollar recording contract to "Idol" competitor Fantasia Barrino.
