Eric Rife began shooting bands in 1980. He stopped two
years later and didn't pick up a camera again until
1989 when he shot an extremely fucked up Johnny
Thunders at the Bacchanal. Patrick Haley was there -
ask him about it.
Over the last 14 years, Rife has shot for the Daily
Aztec, the San Diego Reader, the San Diego Union
Tribune, Razorcake, Punk Planet, Kitty Magik, Genetic
Disorder, Exit, Umbrella and a bunch of websites and
small run rags whose names he can't remember.
Among the performers he has photographed include Joe
Strummer, Ravi Shankar, Ice T, the Supersuckers,
Turbonegro, Jimmy Smith, Sonic Youth, the Sex Pistols,
REM, Gaza Strippers, John Lee Hooker, the Leather Nun,

Rife has never won any sort of award and is forced to
sell his work cheaply due to lack of commercial
