Surviving the Storms

Some days the sun will wander off
as grieving clouds enfold the sky.
Seagulls abandon somber shores
as rain and thunder multiply.

At times the wind appears distressed
when traveling with bands of hail.
Combative gales may taunt the waves,
elbowing vessels that we sail.

Sometimes we are forlorn at sea
as tides demolish without care.
The water's voice becomes so deep
as turbulence invades the air.

When misty days arrive with rage,
our buoyant spirits must survive,
allowing disbelief to sink
in depths, without a chance to thrive.

Beliefs give birth to miracles,
becalming restless seas and souls.
Recurring storms are trials to face
as we attempt the greatest goals.

Sea of Temptation

I seek the ocean to unwind
and wash away thoughts of you.
Instead, tides echo your name
and sweep your waves ashore.

I feel helpless at your mercy,
like shells lying on the sand.
Again, I let your force lure me
and cast my soul in your sea.

You churn and hammer at my heart,
hurling me in your billows
enslaving with outstretched arms.
I’m lost in your cruel rhythm.

Please, dear Lord,
rescue me
from these wrathful waves.
Don't let me sink in desire
or drift on surfs of turbulence.

Lead me to a nearby lighthouse,
away from this sea of despair.
Return my anchor of self-worth
and bring me back ashore.

No Longer Lonely

I'm alone, but no longer lonely.

Solitude grants a haven of respite.

Your exit forced me to journey within,

a place that onced housed selfishness.

I accepted blame for your empty skies,

praying the sun finds its way home.

You've forgiven me, yet my guilt lingers,

so I've planted seeds to recovery.

Until my soul learns to radiate love,

I shall not explore seas for a mate.

Nevermore shall I steal one's rainbow.

I'd rather live without a partner.

I'm alone, but no longer lonely.

Gradually, I'm gaining maturity.

Forgiveness

A time occurs when we're abused
by words and callous deeds of some.
The foes employ incising tools
to slice our souls to minimum.

The wounds may be so deeply cut,
revengeful thoughts become a shield;
resentment may intensify,
and hate becomes the axe we wield.

When we are hurt, we must restrain
from clenching fury's wrathful blades.
When storing rage within the hearts,
our peace departs and strife invades.

Forgive the pain our foes inflict,
and let the Lord perform His chores—

a grueling task for human souls,
so beckon Him to heal the sores.
