Meeting held on 4/05/08

The SOSPW08 (Save Our South Park 2008) Citizens action group held it first formal Community Meeting in Hartsel, Colorado.  The meeting was chaired and moderated by Doran Moore (the founder of SOSPW08), presentation were made by Richard Hamilton and Ramon Castro, minutes were kept by Connie Gray.  Support activities were rendered by numerous volunteers.  Minutes of the meeting will be published here as soon as they have been written.  The meeting started at 1:00 P.M. and lasted until approximately 3:30 P.M.. There were over sixty people in attendance with overflow standing in the aisle.  People from all parts of the county were present and some from the front range.  After the Power Point presentation on the various aspects of In-Situ Leach Uranium Mining and Richard Hamilton's presentation the meeting was open to the attendee's for a question / answer period.  The dynamics and interest of the audience was intense with a very high level of concern about the potential hazards and diminished quality of life should the Uranium mining venture by New Horizon Uranium Corporation be allowed to proceed with their proposed exploration drilling and subsequent development. Several informational handouts were available along with petition forms and sample email letters to send to our government representatives.  Request was made for volunteers to get involved in sending letters to land owners who may not be aware of the current uranium mining proposal that is pending.  (download minutes of 4/5/08 meeting)
