Asher D Biography

Asher D writing autobiography aged 20

So Solid Crew's Asher D has announced he is penning his autobiography at the age of 20.

The singer, who is preparing to be a father, was recently jailed for gun possession.

But he claims that he doesn't want to cash in on his prison sentence because there's plenty more to keep his fans interested.

Asher D will be appearing with So Solid Crew at Hackney's Ocean on April 24, after being released from a young offenders institution last October.

Talking about his new book, he told Radio One: "The publisher that I'm working with, John Blake - he does Posh Spice and Becks and all that - Gareth Gates.

"I've done so much work in the 16 years I've been performing that it's enough to do the book. He really reckons it could be a top seller."

Asher D

Asher D is writing his autobiography.

He may only be 20, but he started acting at the age of four, he's a member of So Solid, one of the most controversial UK garage bands, and he's getting ready to be a dad.

Add to that the fact he was jailed for gun possession and he's considering a role in a 'big budget' Hollywood movie and was once offered a job in 'EastEnders', and it could be a good read.

Oh, and he starred in 'Holby City'.

Asher told Radio 1 he didn't want to cash in on his prison sentence, but he said there's plenty more to keep his fans interested:

"The publisher that I'm working with, John Blake, he does Posh Spice and Becks and all that - Gareth Gates. I've done so much work in the 16 years I've been performing that it's enough to do the book. He really reckons it could be a top seller."

"They approached me - it wasn't my first thing to come out of jail and do a book, you know, cash in on it, but they approached me and said 'yeah boom, it would be a good idea - we could do it a certain way so it's not sleazy or cheesy, so I was on it, you know?"

Kaish's trial

Megaman: So Solid will sue
Last updated 05 June 2003

So Solid Crew

Megaman from So Solid Crew has said they will be taking legal action against the government after Kaish was cleared of gun and drug charges yesterday (Wednesday).

Kaish himself has spoken for the first time since his release, saying he thinks the whole thing was completely unfair:

"If I wasn't in So Solid I would have been released ages ago, but because of who I am, and everyone thinks that So Solid's to do with guns and to do with violence, that's totally unfair."

Megaman has told us the crew are planning to sue government ministers and the police for linking their lyrics to a rise in shootings - they reckon the comments could have given Kaish an unfair trial.

24 year-old Kaish from So Solid Crew walked free from court today (Wednesday) after being cleared of gun and drug charges.

His lawyers immediately took a swipe at comments made by two MPs about gun culture earlier this year, saying they didn't rule out suing the government.

In January Culture Minister Kim Howells attacked the "hateful lyrics of those boasting, macho idiot rappers" and Home Secretary David Blunkett condemned some rap lyrics for containing "appalling" violence.

Kaish's lawyers say the comments by the ministers could have affected the trial, and may have contributed to Kaish, whose real name is Shane Neil, having to spend four months on remand unnecessarily

Asher D and Ms Dynamite to star in new movie

Asher D and Ms Dynamite to star in new movieAsher D

Asher D has confirmed that he and Ms Dynamite are being lined up for major roles in a film about urban life.

He was sent the script whilst he was in prison, and says the script is on its 10th draft but it's looking like it will happen:

"It's a script about the urban music scene at the moment, and the garage scene. Me and Dynamite have been tipped for the first and second leads, so that's just in the process at the moment."

"There's a lot of politics, contracts and stuff like that going on but it should be out sometime next year. Yeah, I've read the script... it's a good script. A lot of people don't know I was an actor before I was a musician."

He said he's done a track with Jamelia, and also said several tracks he wrote in jail will appear on his next album - which should be out next year.

G man jailed :(

G-Man gets jailed for 4 years!

G-Man from So Solid Crew has been jailed for four years for possessing a loaded handgun.

The 24 year-old, real name Jason Phillips, dumped a loaded gun during a police chase in London last November.

He'd always denied it, as well as denying knowing anything about 11 other bullets that were found in a flat in south London.

But the jury in London's Southwark Crown Court heard evidence that DNA found on the weapon matched his, and found him guilty.

 G-Man in court

G-Man from So Solid has appeared in court in London after being charged with possession of a gun and G-Manammo.

The star, whose real name is Jason Phillips, was arrested after trying to run from police at London's Leicester Square last November.

It's claimed he tried to hide a loaded gun before he was caught. He was with fellow crew member Kaish at the time, who has been cleared of similar charges.

More bullets were apparently found at G-Man's home.

The trial's expected to last several days.
