:: SOPI 2007 JAIPUR INDIA

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from Pink city

            Adverse reactions to drugs are not uncommon. Reported incidence varies from 1 to 28%. Nearly 3-10% of patients in developed countries seek admission to hospital because of drug related events. The disparity in figures reflects differences in methods used to detect and report ADRs. The range of prevalence of fatal drug reactions is 0-0.31 percent of hospital medical inpatients. Society of Pharmacovigilance is making efforts in creating awareness in Medical & Pharmacy Community towards hazardous effects of drugs and need to report them.

            Therefore, keeping in view of these objectives the Society of Pharmacovigilance (India) is holding its 7th Annual Conference at

National Institute of Medical Sciences Medical College & Hospital, Shobha Nagar, Jaipur-303001. There will be a pre conference CME Workshop on 23rd Nov. 2007 on “Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring” and conference on November 24th & 25th, 2007.

            It is expected that about 500 delegates from various medical, dental, ayurvedic & pharmaceutical institutions of India and abroad,

will attend this Conference. As it is going to be a highly educative affair, on behalf of the Society of Pharmacovigilance (India), we solicit an

active participation of all health personnel. Your active involvement will go a long way in making this national event a grand success.

            I feel pleasure to invite all of you to Jaipur. A warm reception awaits you and I eagerly look forward to welcome you and promise an academically beneficial and socially enriching experience during your stay with us. You will enjoy the scientific, cultural and social programs of the SOPI in November 2007.

            With warm regards,
